I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

I don't know what they're putting in your weed in OR, but 80% of Maher's guests are liberal and or Democrats, but feel free to keep glazing MTG.

I think you must not watch the show or actually pay attention to the posts you reply to. He even has mentioned himself many times how Democratic politicians rarely take his invitations but Republicans do, even though he's a Democrat.

I said nothing about guests who are liberal, of course there are many of those. Most respected journalists, academics, and authors are liberal, and those are most of his guests.

Also, if you had followed my posts, you would know that I've never used weed or any other recreational drug.

We're talking about Democrat politicians not frequenting Maher's program. Please try to keep up. Thanks.

Maher himself has lamented that fact.

I'm talking about politicians when I mention Democrat.

I've watched it enough to know that the amount of Democrat politicians dwarf the amount of Republican politicians on the show.

But yeah, I'd rather have politicians doing something in DC than flying out to LA to pander for votes.

Funny how the left has hated MTG for years but now that she’s been the target of trump calling her a traitor for a single weekend she fears for her life

The left really needs to lower the temperature

THe funny thing about Bill Maher is the republicans will show up to appear on his show but most of the Democrats are scared to appear

That is sooooo funny, and not true.

Bill does say this though, but he's being hyperbolic and insincere. He's just mad because specific democrats won't come on his show, and it becomes "all" when he says it. Most of his guests are democrats. He used to struggle to get Republicans on.... at all, for years. Now they are coming back into the fold the last few years.

For anyone who is curious, here is a list of guests on Bill Maher's show. Among the political guests, it's a real mix of Democrats and Republicans. I didn't bother to count, but there are plenty of both. My tolerance for Maher is quite low. The relatively few times I've watched, he has seemed like the most smug person on earth. But based on this list, he gets good guests.

In that case, you're simply wrong.

Just within the last few weeks, Maher has said that Republican politicians often accept his invitations to come on the show, while Democrats rarely do.

If Rococo's link is correct (assuming my own scanning was accurate and the link includes all Rep/Sen/Gov labels) then since the start of June he's had 4 Dem politicians and 3 Rep politician as guests. I'd suggest Bill's testimony is not particularly accurate.

I don't know how you're counting, but just in the last several weeks were MTG and Nancy Mace.

Current office holders seem to be listed with titles, but not former ones (like former Republican governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, also in the last several weeks).

Hmm, I thought you said only 1 Republican. Either I misread or you corrected yourself. There still have been more than 7 since June though, if you include former office holders.

It does appear fairly even for this year.

I did correct myself and I had managed to miss a couple of Republicans but it's still more Dems than Reps. I went back to the start of the year and it ended up 10 Dems and 4 Reps - I might have missed one or two again but I don't think there's any way I missed enough to make that even close to equal. I assume that only sitting politicians will have the Rep/Sen/Gov label so I can't speak to former politicians (my ability to recognise these people by name is virtually non-existent) but given the point was about politicians being willing to appear and talk it might be a little disingenuous to include former policitians anyway since there is far less reason to refuse if they're not currently sitting politicians.

AI count:
Final Count (Season 23):
Category Count
Republican / Right-leaning 8
Democrat / Left-leaning 7
Independent / Nonpolitical 8
⭐ Interpretation

Season 23 is almost perfectly balanced, but with a slight tilt toward right-leaning guests, which matches Maher’s recent trend of skewing toward heterodox and conservative figures.

------------

Maher has increasingly had more right leaning guests over the past several years. He's done this while claiming he's liberal and hasn't changed, just that the left has changed.

Still baffles me that he's said this so many times w/o realizing or someone telling him, that's how conservatism happens. You are not willing to change/evolve, and are holding on to the past.

Maher is kinda a liberal/libertarian hybrid. He's most put-off by the 'woke' Democrat crowd.

addendum: He's a Playboy Mansion Liberal (TM pending).

It's not complicated; he's lying.

Well that AI count looks absolute nonsense. I manually counted double digit sitting Dem politicians who have been guests this year (season 23). Also the inclusion of independent implies it's trying to give a count of all guests, not just former or current politicians, but there have been been over 100 total guests (34 episodes, 3 guests per episodes) so the fact it's come up with a total count of 23 is a good reminder to be very, very skeptical of anything AI tells you.

by Trolly McTrollson

It's not complicated; he's lying.

Maher claims that prominent Democrat politicians turn down invitations to his show more often than prominent Republican politicians do.

I of course have no idea if he's lying about that or not.
