last week was driving on a 2 lane highway that was coned off to be one lane for construction

it's night time, it's raining heavily, visibility is crap

i'm just following a pickup truck in front of me

there's a big gap in the cones, pickup truck switches lanes - i'm thinking to myself "thank god i'm following him because i don't think i would have realized we were supposed to switch"

pickup starts slowing down to a stop, i notice the main traffic is still zooming by me on the left

only then do i realize i wasn't following an astute driver but someone going to the job site

due to the rain clogging up the rearview, i had to roll down the window and stick my head out in to watch for gaps in shame for about 5 minutes until a space large enough for me to safely re-enter the fray appeared

driving with my knees to smoke a bowl or eat non traditional car food was a staple of my yut

I'm good at the knee thing too. I'm sure you'll appreciate that there was a time when I kept a frisbee under my front seat and would roll a joint every morning on my drive to work while driving with my knee. It was a spin jammer, so it had a little cup in the middle where clean weed could go. Nowadays, I of course would prefer the ice cream cone to the devil's weed.

Safer under ideal conditions. The problem is it (auto drive, period, not just Tesla) doesn't react well to unexpected situations. It shouldn't be marketed as FSD, at minimum, and needs to be regulated much more tightly than just what it's called

You mean the vehicles with remote drivers sitting in a warehouse to jump in and take over remotely if things get hairy? No, thanks. I much prefer to live in a country with at least a small amount of regulation about what goes on the road

I use FSD 90% or more of the time. It would be tough to give it up. The car drives great. My skeptical best friend bought a Tesla model Y in August. He always said that he wasn't interested in the FSD features. After using it for the last 3 months, he's convinced that it's a game changer and loves it.
