A Mackem in Vegas (Part II)
The worst sequel since "Return to the Blue Lagoon"? - Let's find out shall we?!
I'm heading to Sin City from Oct 21 to No
Thanks for the replies to the hand question and apologies for the belated conclusion to this underwhelming TR.
It was interesting that all 3 replies said to shove the TT over the top of the shorty all-in and the $55 flat from villain. Sadly, that's actually what I did, villain had KK and even though the door card was a T, there was also a K and Q on the flop and that Asian lad had just been gifted another $250 in a matter of seconds.
One of these days I'll run that good but I'm not holding my breath.
Fair to say I wasn't in the right headspace to rebuy so I said 'nh' and left for a final wander up the Strip, where I ended up in Aria to see if they had any PLO games going. For once they didn't but they did have some cool F1 things in the lobby, including a couple of simulators you could have a go on and, presumably, an actually Mercedes car.

After initially not booking the hotel room for my last night as I had an early flight, I decided it was worth it so, after learning what silly price the Orleans wanted to charge me, I booked again on Trivago for half the price and then just got reception to keep me in the same room (woman on reception was very helpful in fairness as Trivago are clearly pulling something with different resort fees so she had to go through and reduce mine for each of the 14 nights on the original booking.)
Up at 4am for the flight and almost have a road-rage incident on the way to the airport after my Uber driver gets cut off by an admittedly terrible driver who is all over the road, but then tries to take revenge when the same guy ends up too close behind us and my driver decides he'll come to an almost complete stop to make his point. No tip for you sir.
Wasn't sure how security lines were going to be given the shutdown but they were really quick, even without TSA pre-check, and the flight was uneventful.
Land in JFK and make the long walk through T4 to the A gates and the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse near gate A5; it has some nice comfy chairs and even a pool table, but many of the chairs are showing signs of serious wear and tear.

You can order food and drink via the bar code on the right of picture and it's brought to your seat.
I sadly wasn't too hungry as I had a stupidly large omelette in the airport, but the duck tostada (not pictured) and cheesecake were pretty decent.

And that, my friends, is pretty much that. A disappointing run of cards - genuinely had AA once in a fortnight and everyone folded after I raised in a cash game at Venetian - and didn't win key flips or 60/40s at crucial moments in tourneys.
I hope you enjoyed the photos if nothing else (!) and I did at least seemingly get out of Dodge at the right time, leaving a couple of days before the shutdown finally had an impact on flights.

Thanks for your trip report mate - not easy writing a live one…particularly given how long you were there
Did you enjoy your trip?

Thanks for asking! I still enjoyed it overall but obviously a better run of cards would have made a big difference.
Making day two of the $125k guarantee at Venetian would have been awesome - there’d have been a bag picture and everything! - and I felt I played really well for 11 hrs with no reward.
Hope to do it again next year if I can get similar deal on the flights and will make sure I book somewhere with a pool which is still open 😀
