A Kentucky official was forced to remind Bluegrass State residents that they cannot vote in Tuesday’s elections — including in far-flung states like New York.
Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams, a member of the Republican Party, took to social media after fielding complaints from constituents.
“We’re getting calls about polls being closed,” he wrote on X on Tuesday. “They are closed because we do not have elections today. Kentucky votes next year.”
“You cannot vote today in Kentucky for the mayor of New York City or the Governor of Virginia,” he added. “Sorry.”

Yes and no. Lawsuits in the political arena are filed for various reasons. Sometimes the party filing the lawsuit has a vested interested in delay. Sometimes the party filing the lawsuit has good reason to believe that it will win. Sometimes the party filing the lawsuit is acting in good faith and has reasonable arguments, but it knows that it is unlikely to prevail. And sometimes the party filing the lawsuit is mainly interested in influencing public opinion and knows that its claims are utterly frivolous.
Trump, and the people acting on this behalf, are unprecedented in the number of lawsuits they have filed that fall in the last category. Unsurprisingly, it is hard to find good lawyers who are willing to file lawsuits that fall in the last category, which is why Trump ended up with idiots like the Kraken and Lin Wood.

I'm sure they have filed lawsuits about the many illegal things that Republicans have been doing recently. Some lawsuits are ridiculous, others are not.

Didace is caught up on some specific about elections in general (and is correct). But yeah, this was a special election and she definitely should have been sworn in by now. As you say, it’s rather unprecedented and quite obvious why Johnson is selectively wielding his power like this.

As to Grijalva not being sworn in, it's pretty absurd. She's not my rep (I've got a MAGA clown - Eli Crane) but I do live in AZ so the situation gets plenty of coverage so I'm well aware of it. It just didn't have anything to do with the prior statements.

The citizens of Virginia voted for the politicians who appointed the people who hired the people who ignored all the warnings and allowed the shooting to happen.
Allowing a by all accounts severely disturbed 6yo in a public school classroom, constantly supervised or not, is a result of numerous policies with broad bipartisan support on local, state, and federal levels.
Not every state has the same safe storage laws. In Virginia, you’re supposed to lock up your firearms if you’re living with a child under 14, but it’s only a misdemeanor if you don’t.
In NY, where I grew up, safe storage was mandated whenever the gun was not in the immediate possession of the user. So the gun was always unloaded and locked in a safe, and we weren’t allowed to know where the safe was kept.
Now I live in a state where there are zero laws regarding safe storage and no penalties. And you do not need a permit here for concealed carry.

Regardless of the gun storage laws, anyone whose child gets their gun and shoots someone should serve prison time, have all children permanently placed with someone else, and never be allowed to be alone with children for their life.
I also think the child should be humanely put down, just like would be done to a dog who attacks people.
