More Lies my main point about the ACA is that the subsidies were temporary only from 2021 due to Covid. The Covid emergency is done so the subsidies should be as well. If its to be an affordable care act even though they named it that but it wasn't meant to be affordable than the plan sucks .

ACA isn't perfect by any means but repubs have spent every waking moment crippling it in order to completely get rid of it. And, of course, they have absolutely no alternative. None. They don't want to stop the flow of billions into insurance company coffers. That would mean their donors would be unhappy. They sure don't want poor people to have any sort of healthcare.

You are correct shifting the current system to a Universal System would be difficult. The Democrats used to believe in Universal Health care but last campaign Kamala said she did not. Gavin Newsom ran last race promising Universal Healthcare as his #1 campaign promise and yet with the majority he had changed his tune . I wonder why that happened it would have been a good experiment for the rest of the country.

2 - the enhanced subsidies that started in 2021 expire at the end of this year
3 - the reason enhanced subsidies were implemented is because of income loss, not because the premiums were too high. The reason why they were extended until the end of 2025 is because of 9% inflation due to Trump's mishandling of Covid
