Yes I am against religious freedom that causes harm to individuals

Some might say religion causes harm to individuals.

He says, while eagerly cheering for the Canadian and the American Christofascists who cause a lot of harm to individuals.

Lucky for lazy lozen: The harm is mostly done to brown people, so it's A OK.

Some might say religion causes harm to individuals.

Some would say teaching religion to children is child abuse ?

Ok
So people should follow your religion and or exercise their religion the way YOU like it ….
So like all maga , you are for freedom, as long it’s freedom you like huh…

And if some freedom you like but others dont, then oh no, it’s my freedom at all cost and the hell for the others ….

Anyway hopefully u will understand linking this to leftism was pretty stupid .
I’m more lefty than you , I promote being against religion in government affairs, and I’m certainly not in favours of those kinda practices.

by lozen

No but I do have concern for the mutilation and castration of children and a party that supports it

Damn, we could have used your presence in the Palestine thread when the genocide started, because I'm sure you were against what was happening to kids there.

I wasn’t associating it to lefties I am just saying they should support it if they support gender affirming care for children .

Castration increases life expectancy very significantly. Maybe it should be compulsory.

Watching some music stream and the NY mayor comes up

There is youtube too.

stream is a dude walking in the street doing rap with a modern marching band equipment.

by chezlaw

Castration increases life expectancy very significantly. Maybe it should be compulsory.

Living in hell for all eternity also increases life expectancy. Maybe we should make it mandatory for people to go there.

by lozen

The American Medical Association is fine with gender affirming care but not genital mutilation. Why should lefties care that low intelligence low education low achieving rurals think they're the same?

by lozen

by lozen

Im sure the lefties here support this as it should be a decision between the parents, doctor and child

by lozen

Not true as the parents and doctors that dis this I bet are left wing . The reality is almost 100% of Americans would say doing this is deplorable but yet the Democrats say gender affirming care on children is between a parent, child and their doctor . NO stop fxxking around with children

Shrug.

It seems that Charlie Brown will never learn. Sigh.

Thune has promised Democrats they will get a vote on any bill they want to put on the Senate floor to extend the enhanced health insurance subsidies under the Affordable Care Act due to expire in January.

He has also pledged Trump is ready to negotiate with Democrats on reducing health care costs as soon as the government is open again.

“The president does like to negotiate, and I don’t know where that would lead. I can’t predict that. That’s what I told the Democrats here, that I can’t guarantee an outcome or result,” Thune said Thursday afternoon.

It's hard to overstate how disappointing the options are in NYC's mayoral election.

Sliwa has been an NYC political joke for at least 30 years.

Cuomo is a terrible person. He is a bully. He has authoritarian tendencies. He treats everyone around him terribly. He is extremely narcissistic. In other words, he shares a lot of personality characteristics with Trump.

Mamdani is wildly unprepared. He has no real plan for how to implement most of what he wants to do and no real path to paying for it. And because of some of the nuttier things he has said over the last five years, he is destined to be a national lightning rod, which won't make governing the city any easier.

I've seen this movie before. When de Blasio ran for mayor, I don't think it occurred to him until a few weeks before the Democratic primary that he might actually win. He was just in the race to move the discussion to the left. But then all the other candidates imploded around him and, oh ****, he was mayor and had no real way to get anything done. Quite predictably, de Blasio ended up being hated by everyone. Progressives predictably viewed him as a sellout because he wasn't able to do what he said he would do and mostly quit trying. People who were focused on quality of life stuff -- trash, sidewalk and street repair, keeping parks in decent shape, subway cleanliness and safety, homeless people pissing in the street, etc., just felt like everything got shittier.

I'm guessing that we will see some of the same dynamics with Mamdani. Progressives will view him as a traitor. Centrists and conservatives will view him as an economically destructive disaster who allowed the city to deteriorate. And not much will get done. It's very depressing.

Lots of people have said they will leave New York if Mamdani wins. Guessing the vast majority of them won't leave. Same song and dance as the people that said they'd leave America if Trump won.

I agree with this whole post, but especially the bolded. In my opinion, the vast majority of taxpayers are going to generally pleased with their local government as long as their quality of life is maintained.

Correct. It's a pain in the ass to move, and a lot of wealthy -- not uber wealthy, but wealthy -- people have other considerations such as jobs, kids in school, etc. But city budgets are always tight. It doesn't take too many highly uber wealthy people leaving to erode revenue. Soaking the billionaire class sounds good on paper as a way to solve budget problems, but finding ways to do it effectively is more difficult than most people imagine. The uber wealthy -- I'm talking mid-nine figures and above -- are incredibly mobile, and most of them don't need to be anywhere in particular.

Yes, but people of all sorts make the claim they will move. It's a very laughable position to take.

True. But it was mostly just a handful of self-important celebs who 'threatened' to leave the country if Trump won. (I put threatened in quotes because I would have preferred if they had promised to leave instead.)

A resident of New York City who gets fed up often has the option of moving to the suburbs. Which is a tiny bit easier than moving to Denmark or to whatever Socialist Utopica (TM Pending) with fewer brown people they were threatening to move to.

Not as many as you might imagine. I can bombard you with dozens of such claims from social media, and that will make it seem like a phenomenon, but it isn't actually much of one.

I don't know a single person personally who said they would leave the country if Trump were reelected, much less know anyone who actually did so.

And I don't know a single person who has said that they will leave NYC if Mamdani wins (or loses).

I'm not sure what your point is. People make this claim and basically 0% of them follow through.

I know one person. She made the claim a few months ago. Zero percent chance she moves.

My point is that very few people even claim that they will move. Social media makes those people seem much more numerous than they actually are.

"I know one person in a city of 8.5 million so that confirms its prevalent" is basically how Republicans operate on twitter too

"See this thing that happened, all lefties do it"

by Rococo

Social media makes those people seem much more numerous than they actually are.

This is true for a lot of things.
