What are you talking about? What do home prices have to do with government spending?
Does that include their paid holidays, 2 weeks at Christmas, 1 week in Nov and March and summers? There's 6 schools in my area, parking lots are empty by 4. Marking a paper at home while watching the Jays game isn't the same as a nurse on the ER who I would say works long hours.

Comparing a teacher to a nurse seems like a long shot . Nurses work set hours and get paid an hourly rate if they work overtime they get an overtime rate. I have no clue how a nurses salary compares to a teachers .
Speaking to my sister a retired special needs teacher and Vice Principal she says the issue is more about class size and difficulties teaching when you have special needs students and english as a second language students in classes that are way to large is just not a good learning environment at all
I think comparing University teachers like Uke to grade 1-12 is not a good idea either not that I doubt Uke takes work home with him

Attrition in teaching is a huge problem - and quite a bit before any magic numbers. But the job is draining, a lot of work, not a lot of pay relatively. One could work to make those conditions better like say smaller class size or more supports for students with IEPs (let alone higher pay). Or one could use the notwithstanding clause.

For government union professions I said I would consider a nurse to work long hours, not a teacher.

Lol yes they aren't paid hourly for holidays. But they receive a pay cheque over Christmas and the summer.
To my knowledge they also don't have performance reviews, SMART goals, etc. which is common is most other professions.

Houses are cheaper in nfld because nobody wants to live there, funding is probably higher because teachers don't want to live/work there, it's a small dispersed population with a bunch of small schools in small communities, further bus routes, etc. There's a million factors other than home prices? lol.
When it comes to government spending I don't think nfld is the model we should be looking at to copy lol.

The principle is when u give less money then a place “where no one wants to live” , no wonder u will end up with a conflict when u are the one gaining the most money in the economy while wanting to giving less .
So those teachers probably got houses to pay as well ….

Don't most teachers work a bunch of hours outside of the classroom, so that their actual average hours per week is above normal despite their paid hours not reflecting that? I didn't regoogle, but I seem to remember seeing averages in the 50 hours/week range.

Like I don’t know why you are even comparing nurses and teachers in the first place, they are very different professions, but like doing this based on the length of the shift is a bit silly

Yes and Uke whom is a teacher and my sister as well whom is a teacher and a few close friends I have that are teachers all say they work more than 40 hours a week while your saying they work 8-3 . Do you have any teachers in your family or close friends

Lol of course. I grew up in competitive golf, half the people I played with became teachers so they could golf all summer.
Most people that work 40 hour/week salary positions work more than 40 hours a week.

Except you didn't show that. Sure nurses have long shifts, but they work less days per week. Plenty of teachers work more hours than nurses do in a week.
