Maybe on economic issues he leans left, but hes mostly 2A, moderate in immigration and defense and military support - also trade and manufacturing leans old school right.
His economic issues may lean left (wtf that even means) but his policies and ideas on how to actually accomplish those particular goals are very good - at least imo. But the whole enchilada isn't about where on the spectrum you land, it's actually whether or not what you spout actually can work in practice. And I think is economic ideas work there, which can't be said for others in his party.

No. It’s an inference from the fact that the clip is 25 seconds and it was cut what seems like mid sentence or at least midway between a thought. It’s a classic Bernie-ism to give a compliment and then go on to criticize the person that he is complimenting. Like when he says “my good friend Joe, who I don’t doubt cares about these issues, but…” or something of that nature.
He did the same thing earlier in the year with RFK, where he said this what I like about what he’s doing and this is what I find unacceptable.

Most Americans don't care about this. The ones who hate him certainly hate it. I don't think renovating a 250 year old house is unreasonable.
If I actually thought he was gonna leave office and whoever gets elected in 2028 gets it, then I don't care at all. If he's doing it only for himself (quite possible, almost likely) then it's silly.

The president lies about what will be done to the east wing, he lies about the cost of what we will be done and he lies about who will pay for it. Then the project starts during a government shutdown when a lot of people are not getting paid. To add insult to injury it is a luxury project in a time of increasing financial difficulty for a lot of citizens, and it is done at the behest of a lazy, corrupt patrician.
Then as it happens, his supporters deny it happening. Then they lie about a former restoration project, and then they claim that a former president putting a basketball basket and painting extra lines on the tennis court was exactly the same thing, because they get their reality spoonfed by a "conservative" social media ecosystem whose business model is to wipe whenever Trump does a doodoo.
So it is symptomatic because it is a microcosm of the Trump presidency. It is symbolic because a part of the white house was demolished.
