President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

theres nothing to explain. Dems have spent 50 years implementing this policy just as much if not more than Repubs.

Except they haven't victor.

Low down on my list of things to do today, is trying to explain obvious policy differences in America's two party system to a cynical moral equivalist.

No point in casting your endless stack of pearls before swine, eh?

Endless sack... I wish. 😀

I have learned over my lifetime, some people are lost causes. Just too mired in false beliefs, and not very open to new ideas or being wrong.

You can't reason someone out of a viewpoint that they didn't reason themselves into

Did someone in here say this? It's a great quote. Gold, really.

I know Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens says this a ton. The original quote is much older of course.

Ironically it was recently said by Lucky Palmer (never heard of him before) on Rogan

Didn't watch the episode just saw it being repeated by people who haven't reasoned into a viewpoint in 12 years (the irony)

It is ironic. But everyone wants to believe they are seasoned reasoners. 😀

The original quote is from Swift, the author of Gulliver’s Travels.

The original quote is from Swift, the author of Gulliver’s Travels.

It's from Swift's 'Letter to a Young Gentleman Lately Entered Into Holy Orders, by a Person of Quality', 1721, and reads, 'Reasoning will never make a Man correct an ill Opinion, which by Reasoning he never acquired.' A lot of wits have given their own versions of it ever since.

the progressive wing of the Dem party is pushing for a guy with a Nazi tattoo that did 3 tours of Iraq/Afghanistan and the went back for a 4th as a mercenary. a guy who has reddit posts supporting the "Indian" and Philippine wars. not to worry, this guy is the too left wing for most Dems so its fine.

the Repubs have group chats deifying Hitler and and rape.

there is no "sides".

Lol, whatever dude. You just want to tip your fedora and complain about everything (except Trump).

Advice... don't waste your time.

He just equated an ex-military guy who got an ADL tat, claiming he didn't understand its history (still stupid, and not a great excuse) and saying he's getting it removed to a party that has thousands of actual Nazis in it.

They're both equal.

smh... no reasoning ability.

Speaking of Luckey... he's the epitome of the tech industry shifting away from what is good for humanity, to complete and utter self-interest because they believe they are golden God's that know what's best for the world.

I couldn't get through this entire movie, but he's the parity of the characters in the movie, Mountainhead.

is your view that humanity wants x, but tech industry will only do y for their own self-interest, and no one else will do x?

seems like a big opportunity to do x if that's what humanity wants

does anyone argue that Trump is a good thing? meanwhile the internet and the media is full of people who try to convince me that the Dems are a force of good.

There are posters here who argue that Trump is a good thing daily

No, I'm saying the opposite.

There's a growing number of people in the tech sector who have made tons of money, who now believe (and this is mostly influenced specifically by American culture) because they made all this money, they are golden God's who know the best path forward for humanity.

Hence, the only thing that matters is their ability to complete their companies missions. And they have been slowly recalculating that it's better to work w/ Republicans (and specifically Trump), because they are easily bought, and they will get all the deregulation they need to achieve their goals. Humanity, democracy, environment be dammed.

No, I've read tons of people try and explain this to you ad nauseam.

Dems are the lesser of the evil.

You can't understand this for whatever reason.

You know, unlike the Republicans who no one online or in the media is in favor of. Especially not podcasters, alternative media, large swaths of twitter.

Once again, selection bias goes brrrr

If ballot papers aren’t going to have a “None of the above” box at the bottom, they should at least have a box for the Dems, one for the Republicans, another for the Dems - lesser of two evils, and similarly for the republicans.

you guys keep doing the meme

you guys keep doing the meme

Correct.

Again, the fact you can't understand the Jacob meme is perplexing, because it's not rocket science. You just have to use a tiny bit of a reason. Just a little bit.
