President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

You do realize the experts say they will be broke in 10-12 years unless something changes

Right, so you can either change to fund them or change to cut them and cutting them harms pretty much everyone, so.....

We talked about this a year and a half ago. All it takes is actually enforcing taxes on corporations and viola. Like a 1.5% marginal increase in tax intake would solve the problem

In fact, increased taxes solves the vast majority of our problems that aren't tied to ******ation and racism

And the Doge deep dive really highlighted how incredibly efficient our government acts at scale. Legitimately incredible stuff

We have 50 years of trickle down economic history showing that it doesn't work. All it does is enable the concentration of wealth at the detriment of the worker

Just an abject failure all around

I think is the spot where the lozens of the world brick up, reset, and loop back to square one.

Yes people don't want responsibility. They want handouts. They are cowards and want the comfort of their government chains.

It doesn't just not work in America, it doesn't work anywhere it's been tried.

We have plenty of models of what does work well for the working class, and even billionaires.

I honestly wonder if you realize these talking points are all brainwashing... and it's what most conservatives believe, based on pitting you against a non-existent enemy (usually of color), that is lazy, doesn't want to work and just wants to take your tax money.

It's not true.

How much time do you spend being upset about billionaire bailouts, and corporate welfare?

I'm betting not as much as your post. I wonder why.

The time period where we nostalgically call on to be "great again" was a period of unprecedented government subsidy for housing, ag, education, and infrastructure. All things that are currently getting eviscerated by the current government.

Maybe in your world view the point of government is to actively make everyones life worse/harder? Thats what i seems like MAGA thinks when they say "great again", but all it should imply is that the US government makes everyones lives better through "handouts"

We taxed the absolute **** out of everyone in the 50s and 60s

Got to to assume this is just a distraction from him noncing it up with girls that look like Ivanka, otherwise it's the most ridiculously absurd attempt at corruption ever.

You mean more corrupt than...

Foreign government payments to Trump-owned properties?

Crypto and meme-coin ventures tied to Trump brand while in office?

Campaign / fundraising money flowing into Trump properties?

Tax returns & divestiture failures enabling continued profit while in office?

Trump-family companies pursuing deals with foreign entities, while he was in office?

Leveraging media and legal threats to extract favorable treatment?

I don't have the time to cover them all honestly.

thread discussion was about social security and medicare.

then a writing from 200 years ago was posted about cowards not taking responsibility and preferring the comfort of their chains.

it was amazing.

fd, I despise bailouts.

This guy is all in on bitcoin yet he thinks money is chains

Thats why all the billionaires and elites want everyone poor as ****, so they can be free

Equality feels like oppression to such monsters.

I still have poverty brain from growing up under the oppression of poverty

So you're not in favor of all the Trump bailouts to oil and gas, farmers, coal and mining, Trump's personal law firm, Kushner properties, etc.... ?

Do you still support someone who is as openly corrupt as Trump is? Are you still convinced the alternative is significantly worse?

without knowing all the details, that seems generally correct. yes.

i'm not sure support trump is quite accurate. i've said elsewhere in this thread or other one that he is a buffoon.

worse, yes.

did the Dems have no power over that span of 50 years?

The experts would also say that my cell phone will run out by tonight if I don't charge it at some point before then.

Running out of those benefits would be a disaster - especially as we enter a world with an economy where more people will need to rely on such benefits. But the article is clickbait, and it isn't talking about any credible risks to those programs because these funds aren't affected by them but instead is just capitalizing on how dumb Trump is and what he is willing to say.

But this is another reason why raising corporate taxes will need to happen. A system that is funded mostly by workers and employers tends to struggle a bit when we enter a world where AI replaces work and govt funding is needed to support those people.

But a lot of areas run like that which is why it would be better to have leaders who understand the basics of how those things work. Our highway trust fund is set to run out, mainly because it's funded by the gas tax which hasn't been tweaked forever and now, we are entering a world where everyone is driving an EV.

Anyone care to explain the obvious? I don't have time for these kinds of post from this specific poster.

Got it.

Can you provide some details on why you think it would be worse?

Do you think democracy is a good thing... or not in favor?

It is when the US ended the gold standard

theres nothing to explain. Dems have spent 50 years implementing this policy just as much if not more than Repubs.

So are you one of these libertarians that follows the Austrian School of Economics basically?

And/or are you more into the conspiracy wing of things?
