2/5: JJ in BB facing raise and 3b upfront

2/5: JJ in BB facing raise and 3b upfront

$2/$5 — JJ in BB facing MP open, CO 3b, BTN flat — what’s best line?

Hand:

$2/$5 NL, $600 effective (Hero).
• MP opens to $25
• CO (solid reg, wearing a backpack) 3bets to $75
• BTN (recreational) cold-calls
• Hero in BB looks down at JJ

Hero just sat down, no image yet. Everyone covers us.

Question:

What’s the best play here with JJ — 4-bet jam, flat, or fold?

Given the multiway dynamic and being out of position on my first hand, I wasn’t sure how much weight to give fold-equity vs. value in jamming. BTN’s cold-call makes it more tempting to take it down now, but JJ also plays decently if we see a flop. Curious how you’d approach it and what range you’d 4-bet jam here.

Imho, Fold > ship > call

4bet jamming AK+/QQ+ might even go tighter to AA/KK if mp and co are on the tighter side with their open/3bets.

I guess it's ok to jam if mp opens light, co 3bets light, btn is a fish cold calls with any hands that are worse than JJ.

I like the call. After two cold-calls, MP is 4betting only QQ+, maybe AKs. You pay $70 to play a $300 pot. You have position over CO. If you have overpair on the flop and CO bets in a 3bet multiway pot, it is likely you are behind.

I would fold or jam, defaulting to fold without reads.

Call is better than fold. Getting good price for set 4-ways. Reevaluate based on action on low flop.

I'm fine with a call here to set mine. I, too, like it better than a fold. Zero reason to ship. My jam range is pretty tight w/o info on players, etc. KK, AKs, AA.

Calling to set mine as in you’re cold calling deuces here too?

Might be a call with 22, but JJ is a lot stronger, not a pure set mine.

You need two people to call a shove if you hit on the flop to make the call profitable. That seems unlikely, so it is a fold.

I just yammed.. got snapped by AKs

AKs is not a snap call, but many low stakes players don't 3! a strong hand and fold it.

I don’t like any of the options you ponder. In my mind, it’s a 4Bet - but I like a hundred on top. Making it $175 is not a standard size, but I think it’s enough to narrow the field. A 4Bet, especially OOP, is perceived as very strong.

I like announcing that I’ve got a very good hand, and see what villains do. Give players the opportunity to fold without committing your stack. I would guess that you could be behind, but the other players don’t know that.

Seeing the flop would have been good against AK in a lot of ways. You shove a low flop, maybe he folds & you avoid the ace on the river. Ace high flop lets you escape with some of your stack.

Which is decent for us. Beats sticking in 75 and hoping for a set with 525 back.

Guessing, since this is a thread, that an A or K hit? Despite the MW likely card removal.

It is going to be tricky to play OOP on a low flop, but I don't see it as a straight set mine like if you had 44.

If he 3-bets a lot, call. If he only 3-bets big hands, fold.

If he 3!s a lot shove. If he only 3!s big hands, call.
