President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Trump set free a cop killer at the end of his first term.

Truly a great statesman.

Washington: US President Donald Trump on Saturday, October 18, shared an AI-generated video depicting himself piloting a fighter jet marked “KING TRUMP,” wearing a crown, and dropping faeces on Democratic activist Harry Sisson during a protest.

The video, posted on X (formerly Twitter), comes amid nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations against Trump’s policies.

It’s stupider than it sounds I fear.

Come on, this is an easy one - the electoral college.

There never has been an instance where faithless electors altered the outcome of a presidential election. You can make an argument for why the electoral college should be abolished, but Biden won both the electoral college and the popular vote.

I didn't say anything about faithless electors; I'm talking about the entire system which gives more power to voters in sparsely populated states.

My point is that if popular vote was all that counted, it would be almost impossible for Republicans to ever win the presidency.

No Republican presidential candidate has won the popular vote the first time he became president since 1988. And that victory barely counts as a first term as it was the sitting VP for the most popular Republican president ever.

Needs to go before the shutdown ends for totally not paedo-file release related reasons...

The more he wildly flails around, the worse I think the stuff on him is.

The 2024 election results were catastrophic. Kamala Harris was perfect in almost every way. She would have taken the world in a great direction and been the first female, the first asian, and the second black president. Instead, the worst possible person won at the worst possible time. The absolute best Americans are the ones hurt the most and the most empowered people are the most greedy amongst us.
Millions of people joined the No Kings protest. It was a peaceful way for the voiceless to have their voices be at least momentarily noticed. It’s a sad time but hopefully everyone made some friends and found some camraderie. There are a lot of smart people on the left and I am confident we can craft a winning message going forward.

I gotta say it’s definitely REFRESHING to have a president who doesn’t even pretend to hide how shamelessly transactional he is

1. If you voted for me, I’ll probably make your life worse, but at least I will actively make libz lives even worse
2. If you didn’t vote for me, I may be your president but I will actively make your lives worse

I happened to be in Bible country a few weeks ago, which of course caused me to think about why hard-core Christians tend to support Trump. I think that people who shout at the lagtights of the world about Trump's immorality are missing the point. Hard-core Christians don't support Trump because they think he is moral. They support Trump mainly for two reasons. The first is obvious. Trump has ushered in a conservative Supreme Court that is hostile to the progressive social agenda. The second is less obvious. Hard-core Christians are accustomed to taking things on faith, even if no evidence exists to support their beliefs or the evidence seems to contradict their beliefs. It's a lot easier to support Trump if you take certain things on faith and don't get hung up on the facts.

Welcome back. Had a whole month gone by?

The real bluemaga were the people who stood in the way of Kamala.

Logically speaking it makes way more sense that bluemaga defines the lefties who helped maga win the election by being brainwashed nihilists

by checkraisdraw

lol how is that throwing trans people under the bus? da fuq

in 2020 she campaigned on being the person who was solely responsible for making california give convicted felons serving lifetime sentences free gender assignment surgeries

in 2024 - idk let's just do whatever someone else says, i got no opinion

Thanks. Not to the day, but more or less.

Simply not true. the Harris/Walz campaign barely mentioned transgender people, and only then in response to questions about the topic from the press.

Yeah changing to a more reasonable opinion than the stupid crap Dems were saying were trans rights in 2020 makes a lot of sense.

In any case listening to doctors could involve giving surgeries and hrt to inmates.

Yes, of course. The idea that a lot of #bluewave old twitter types are shallow and don’t understand what they’re arguing about is true. The idea that bad things would happen under both the harris and trump administration is true.
That entire conversation is immature and privileged when it is applied to the binary choice of a Harris or Trump administration, and those false equivalences have led us to the bad timeline in an increasingly undemocratic world.

Kamala might have been the best choice for president we actually get in the next 20 years..Obviously I hope I’m wrong about that.

It was just a version of the same phenomenon that you see in most election cycles. Traditional candidates (i.e., not Trump) dabble with being closer to the tip of the spear when it appears the cultural zeitgeist is leaning in a particular direction or when it seems necessary to consolidate the base.

When the general election comes around, traditional candidates tend to walk it back a bit, which it turn leads to endless questions from the media about inconsistency and hypocrisy. If you are a member of the media, those are the easiest gotcha questions in the world.

How fitting

White House begins demolishing East Wing...

Have to say I enjoyed Trump's dressing down of our Ambassador today of the things he has historically said about Trump

But did you enjoy where he mentioned he was going to abuse the insurrection act?
