It is a little weird seeing everyone on their phones these days. I went to the doctor the other day and several people were waiting... all on their phones. I drove past a bus stop of maybe ~10 people... 9 out of 10 on phones, 10th person just had headphones in vibing.
Yeah, I remember back in the day waiting in the doctor's office for two hours with only a couple of National Geographic magazines and then waiting 45 minutes once in the exam room for a 7 minute doctor visit. Such simpler times...

Nostalgia is interesting because it seems to filter out the negative **** and just keeps in all the cozy comfortable stuff about the era. Plus, the uncertainty of the future is a downer compared to looking back to a pic of 1980 and realizing that you can relax a bit more.
But I'm a staunch believer that effort creates meaning and progress leads to happiness. So the person who had to ride their skateboard down to the video store to rent a Nintendo game, and only have either the instruction manual or a classmate tell you that you need to crouch down next to the mountain for 10 seconds before a tornado whips you up, taking you to the next level (Castlevania 2) instead of youtubing the walkthrough or just having every game accessible on Steam, will live more rewarding lives.
It's the same reason why after a few months, lottery winners tend to end up more depressed than those who suffer severe accidents leading them to learn how to walk again.
You may be making things easier, but you’re taking away something that makes humans happy - the struggle, the anticipation, the feeling of completing something instead of just having it handed to you.
