As Carney laid out pretty clearly during the campaign, Trump's action are a huge threat to Canada and to the status quo of world trade more generally. Mark Carney was and still is the best person to be navigating that of the options we had. Quite a bit has changed in the last while (for instance a default now of global tariffs vs just picking on Canada/Panama/Greenland), and Canada's response has changed with it which is appropriate.

Yes but like I said he campaigned on it along with strong borders and deporting illegal immigrants , Crime and even keeping men out of women's sports and a few others and he is delivering on them.
Do you think Trump is going to make a deal or ride this out till 2026 when the CUSMA trade deal comes up for renegotiation? What he is doing now is imposing more tariff's and what did Carney do but eliminate all tariffs . I am not sure what the right strategy is but I would be 100% for a export tax on Uranium, potash and crude and electricity .

I think you know by now I agree that a lot is wrong with Canada. Justin has done unrepairable harm and the fact we have provincial borders has always been the dumbest thing ever. Does not for one second mean Canadians can't be mad at Trump too for imposing tariffs on Canada for complete bs reasons.
I also don't know what the right strategy is simply because Trump can not be trusted. He's the one reneging his own deal. Not us. I am however 100% on board with all the boycotts and what not. This really is our saving grace. That most products are currently tariff free (unlike the rest of the world) and we enjoy the protections of CUSMA is the one thing allowing us to not just totally and utterly cave. And the long game (CUSMA 2.0) matters quite a bit more than the short term here, so I'm hoping Carney can help this happen.
