“We are certainly looking at land now, because we’ve got the sea very well under control,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, when asked if he was weighing strikes on land.
But Trump declined to confirm a New York Times report that he had secretly authorized the CIA to conduct covert action in Venezuela against the administration of President Nicolas Maduro.
Asked if he had given the CIA authority to “take out” Maduro, Trump replied: “That’s a ridiculous question for me to be given. Not really a ridiculous question, but wouldn’t it be a ridiculous question for me to answer?”

To be fair, blowing up a small boat with naval ordnance is a good way to make sure there isn't much evidence of anything left. Which one might also say is counter-productive if the goal is law enforcement, as we traditionally use evidence in law enforcement. Of course, only blue-eyed, glasses-wearing liberal social justice warriors would ever suggest that due process is a good thing. Real men like a government which can kill them without justification.
The good news is that if you accept the government's word without evidence, you have stopped at 3 drug-boats, and it probably only cost you between 500 - 1000 million dollars.

Strategically, you want people to have an off-ramp for as long as an exchange of ideas is an option.
There are without a doubt both conservatives and members of the GOP who are not okay with Nazism running the show in Young Republican leadership, and you want those people to be angry with the Nazism instead of closing the door in their face.
And to point out the lack of principled response from Trumpists / MAGA or their enablers is more than fair, but to close the door completely is just going to make their brand of politics easier.
