No way ervin missed that runway was clued. There's also no way that eb would clue unlimited if club/cover were ours.
The only way I can make some sense of it is if play is ours, so that's what I'd bold next.

we were CRUISIN! blue's makeups were hot garbage(our words lol), I got a little sloppy with the jab clue - I was thinking of going for all 4 of club/strike/shot/cover and was thinking of boxing words, decided to go for 2 and came out with jab, just missed clueing something like missile but did not think any of it would matter as blue would have no chance
blue gave an unlimited clue 
which mystified me but whatever, not our problem. maybe eb was hoping to run into a neutral or who knows, seemed like a bunch could win and our 2 jab makeups were clear
only 2 unguessed words blue mentioned for runway were cover and club so seemed easy enough with the classic jab(pew pew) of clueing blue's own word
we start off smoothly with the makeups but then....out of nowhere....D1 a trusted codenames sleuth with whom i've enjoyed partnering on the way to cracking many cases....LOSES ALL FAITH IN ME and silver tongues our other beloved operative into one of the worst guesses of all time!

I still have no idea how we got to play, the clue wasn't Pluto, it was runway and there were 2 clear runway words they didn't guess!

Yeah, sorry. But the reason play was guessed was because neil mentioned it last turn as a possible makeup for runway...it was never meant for Pluto. I honestly hated guessing it, but I just could not fathom that someone who has been playing codenames as long as eb has could ever steer his team into our last 2 words for absolutely no reason, and you have been known to take some weird lines in the past.
But yeah, it was still bad. Won't happen again!

That must've been very tilting watching that from your end haha.
It's just unfortunate they didn't guess either of those words before ice, which would often be the case in those situations.
