Caught her in a power trio (****, 9 years ago) at Beale Street Music Fest. She won the prestigious "Best Artist I'd Never Seen Before" award. Love her stuff with Kurt Vile, also. Thanks for posting!
She’s high on my list to see.
I hope this gets an audio release.
Couple of buddies jammin' on the couch...

Love Built To Spill. This lineup is nothing like I saw in 2023, however.
I love Doug Martsch. One of my favorites. Was lucky enough to see built to spill in ~2010 at the tiny beachcomber in Wellfleet. Wish I could see all my favorite bands like that.
"The Way" is a song by American alternative rock band Fastball. It was released on January 7, 1998, as the lead single from their second studio album, All the Pain Money Can Buy (1998). The song was written by the band's lead vocalist, Tony Scalzo, and was produced by the band and Julian Raymond. Scalzo was inspired to write the song after reading about the disappearance of an elderly couple who were found dead in their car many miles away from their intended destination.
Fastball frontman Tony Scalzo came up with the idea for the song after reading articles that described the June 1997 disappearance of an elderly married couple, Lela and Raymond Howard from Salado, Texas,[6] who left home to attend the Pioneer Day festival at nearby Temple, Texas, despite Lela's Alzheimer's disease and Raymond recently recovering from brain surgery. They were discovered two weeks later, dead, at the bottom of a ravine near Hot Springs, Arkansas, hundreds of miles off their intended route.[7][8] The authorities who investigated the incident believed that Lela, who was driving the car, was trying to locate a place where she had once vacationed.[9]
They made up their minds
And they started packing
They left before the sun came up that day
An exit to eternal summer slacking
But where were they going without ever knowing the way?
They drank up the wine
And they got to talking
They now had more important things to say
And when the car broke down
They started walking
Where were they going without ever knowing the way?
Anyone can see the road that they walk on is paved in gold
And it's always summer
They'll never get cold
They'll never get hungry
They'll never get old and gray
You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home
But they really don't care
They wanted the highway
They're happier there today, today
Their children woke up
And they couldn't find 'em
They left before the sun came up that day
They just drove off and left it all behind 'em
But where were they going without ever knowing the way?
Anyone can see the road that they walk on is paved in gold
And it's always summer
They'll never get cold
They'll never get hungry
They'll never get old and gray
You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home
But they really don't care
They wanted the highway
They're happier there today, today
Anyone can see the road that they walk on is paved in gold
And it's always summer
They'll never get cold
They'll never get hungry
They'll never get old and gray
You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home
But they really don't care
They wanted the highway
They're happier there today, today

REd's post reminded me of one of my first loves... Afrobeat! Fela, OJ, etc. As a teenager, transitioning from metal to jam/improv musically, I would listen to Afropop Worldwide on NPR on Sunday nights, followed by locally produced Reggae Street, with Marcus
Fast forward 40 or so years, and local talent Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra plays a little music fest in downtown Phoenix, and I'm immediately hooked, and transported back 3-4 decades. Really great songs/arrangements, some covers, some originals. Here's one in response to pandemic and BLM movements. Overtly political, if that bothers you...
Broken YouTube LinkHere's a Fela cover, live, from a show I may have been at, shortly after seeing them the first time.

Thanks Red for the inspiration. Next up, some OJ Ekemode and Antibalas.
my gateway to afrobeat can be traced directly through the creamy veins of ginger baker when he played with this fela on these cuts in africa '70
Reminds me of cop show intros from the 70s. Skip to 16 minutes in for Heather Loccklear. And Charlie's Angels that aired on Wednesday nights and I was allowed to stay up past my curfew to watch.
Buff Springfield cover by WSP...

My poker play suffers if I'm not toasted. I wish I could smoke up in the poker room bathroom
Have you considered a vape pen?
As stated previously, the New Mastersounds have embarked on what they claim to be their last US tour. I was lucky enough to catch the show in Solana Beach at the end of Oct. I don't have video of that show, but here's a steady cam of the whole show from 11/08. Sad I may never see them in the US again.
Broken YouTube LinkFirst time I saw Widespread Panic was in 92, at a dive bar in Tempe, nothing but a setlist left to the memories.
Second show was in 94, at the Hayden Square amphitheater 31 years ago today, on a cold November night. Video isn't the greatest, but the sound is good, and the setlist is fantastic! I assure you, I was high AF at this show :-)
Today also marks 3 years since I found out my buddy (best man) passed away in Montana. Hug your friends, kids. Hug your friends' kids, too, if they'll let you...
M!de it home and my buddy who house sits for me left my house dirty as ****. Bless his heart.
