It's so profitable! Playing online while you're playing live?

I'm seeing guys do it on a somewhat frequent basis. I'm not a fan of allowing it.

For one thing it slows down the game. But also, it feels kind of cringy for me to sit next to a guy playing 3 or 4 tables on his phone and watching him glance at the table while he's also dealing with his hands in progress. I've seen guys stall out in the live game also.

I've seen a player tell a guy he can't do it before, but I wasn't sure if that's common or not.

I do find that those guys usually underperform and often lose at the table, but they are almost always playing super tight at the table and bad for the game, and antisocial also at times.

Three or four tables on a phone while playing live seems insane. I can't imagine trying to keep up w/ two tables on a phone, but whatever.

I play on my phone (one table) all the time while I play live. Almost never affects my live game -- and if it does, it's way less than how "life" (watching something on their phone, watching the TV, getting a drink, etc.) affects the people I'm playing against 😉

I someone was doing it and it was affecting how much time they took, I'd call the clock every time (unless they were a complete fish and losing tons).

Playing online while you're playing live strikes me as something an addict would do.

Yeah just fire up some up some slots instead

It usually isn't a problem. Someone playing on their phone while live is used to multi-tabling. They get back to the game quickly. Although if the rare case came up, I would love it if the dealer took their cards after 30 seconds. When the player complained, just say, "you timed out" just like on line.

I actually like it when people are on their phone (as long as it isn't a Solver type app)

They play fewer hands at the table. Their strategy is very straightforward. And I personally think that they have a much lower chance of recognizing tells. Online play tells are basically not a thing except for timing.

I get they will be unable to act quickly every time but for me its worth it. Especially when they are on my left.

Actually, as with live poker, bet size is a huge online tell -- at least for the games I play. It's a club, though, so I know the players pretty well (virtually).

Careful, too, some of us are paying more attention than you think 😉 As stated, I play only one table online, and I don't play online if I'm playing PLO live or a bigger NLHE game -- only the 1/2 and 1/3 games I sit in while I wait. I'd go bored out of my mind if I didn't!

Yes you are 100% correct. About everything.

For me I was talking about human behavior tells. But bet sizing can be a giveaway as can what somebody does repeatedly in given situations, like not c-betting when they don't have a pair. Or c/r only with 2 pair or better. Etc.

Whenever I have some free time, I swing by this site—tons of casino info, demo games, and just pure fun. Definitely my little guilty pleasure!

should ban phones from the table. in fact ban them altogether
