My motto is I know how to do it, but why bother when I can pay someone else to do it. Or it's possible I'm just lazy.

Since we're on old trucks, here's mine: 2002 Ranger. Five speed with a 6 cylinder engine (3.6L? can't remember). ~102,700 miles. Don't drive much, especially during summer.
That is great looking truck. No wonder a rando wanted to buy it.
Speaking of vehicles, I just bought a new one today. Had a 2017 Outlander with 170k miles on it, and was ready to upgrade.
Ended up with a 2025 Outlander, lots of new features, and a sunroof!

Bad trans or is the slave cylinder going out? Such a common problem with the car I have, that numerous companies have made a kit to move it to an external area for easier replacement.
Of course, if you are going to do all that, you just buy an aftermarket clutch and go from dual mass to single mass.

I mean 100k miles on a manual transmission is nothing. Far more likely you need a new master cylinder, slave cylinder, clutch, or even just a new synchro ring on a specific gear before a total trans swap. Unless Ford just made the shittiest manual trans ever. Far more likely for an auto trans to **** up before a manual.

Just the type of weighting used on the flywheel. OEM like to use dual mass since they are smoother and harder to stall, but they are heavier and also more expensive to replace.
Also auto trans swap is at least $10k, and that's assuming you can find someone who would even want to take on that kind of work.
I forgot to mention: Some years back, I was having quite a bit of trouble getting it in first. On a trip up north, my uncle (who also had a Ranger) told me to look at the reservoir.
It was a bit low. Topping it off made thing better, but not like new.
So entirely possible Gus' analysis is spot on. When it gets bad enough, I'll get it addressed.
Or but a new truck. Or just drive the Subie. We'll see. All of those solutions can be ok.

my apologies for not getting out to Boston this summer
Oh man, that had slipped my mind. One day!
For whatever reason, today I was thinking of the time kkcountry, who I think is from southeast, was in Boston and we met up for dinner at Parish Cafe. Very cool guy, as most of the many 2+2ers I've met in person have been. Great poster back in the day, that kkcountry.
Was playing at Maryland Live last week and the guy to my left had a McLovin driver's license that he bought off Etsy. Thought showing that off might have been a subtle 'sup bro from the wholesome mod himself, but I sure hope not, as that guy was nice enough, but let's just say I don't think he spent any time on the strat forums.
