The deficits have been higher under Republicans than under Democrats for all of my lifetime. It's a joke that you think increasing the deficit is a liberal or left-wing policy. It's far closer to the opposite.

Tucker is not standing up for Kimmel; he's standing up against government overreach. At least he's smart enough to understand that just because some dude laughed at him over losing his job, he shouldn't support the FCC coercing companies to fire people over opinions.

He sees the bigger picture. Hard to say if it's because he sees how this can spillover one day to how he earns his paycheck so he has a personal interest, or if it's because it's a basic tenet of the United States that should be preserved.

You know very well that no matter what i consider fascism, the meaning of the word is definitely not agreed upon by people. While some stuff would find a lot of people in agreement about being fascist (including me), most of what leftist accuse the right to do as fascism in europe and the USA does not find normal people in agreement.

Same is true for "racism" and other words.

Given the strategy of the left for decades has been about loading 6-8-10 words with "everything negative possible" then using it randomly to define everything everyone that opposes them says or does, going with "you are inventing your politcal theory" when i try to define words the left uses without defining is pretty gross.

Besides in some countries (like in Italy) fascism is actually a crime so we do have legal definitions (and the equivalent of case law) and they are very different from what people claim around here.

Cruz presumably has abandoned whatever presidential ambitions he once had, which means he feels more free to offer his actual views rather than fluff Trump. His views will still be horrible most of the time (as they were before Trump came on the scene), but in this particular case he happens to be correct.

I think this is giving Cruz (and by extension Tucker and everyone else you wouldn’t expect) too much credit

I don’t either, but it feels like once the rubicon has been crossed where one side has flagrantly and unapologetically gone into aggressive totalitarianism and removing constitutional rights from one political side I would assume some on the side of the oppressor would be terrified of the oppressed taking power

And considering the high amount of career Dems that will be facing being primaried the energy of what replaces them is pretty unknown

An incumbent party that has decided to weaponize every single government agency and has decided being a liberal is enough reason for your livelihood to be threatened and is putting their thumbs on the scale to ensure that isn’t likely to allow that power to be used against them any time soon

I strongly doubt that. Most of the remaining equity Cruz has in becoming president is if Trump is viewed like W Bush was in 08, a failure even to republicans and people like Vance and Rubio will be blamed along with Trump. That may be unlikely but it's unlikely for him to be president anyway.

I wonder if cruz senses cracks in the Republicans blind support of trump.

I tend to think it’s more that 1 of 2 things are going to happen

1. Trump will successfully rig or cancel the midterms
2. The republicans will get wiped out in the midterms to the point where somehow the senate might actually be in play based on all these actions

Sometimes I wonder if this was all permitted to happen because a big part of the population (baby-boomer) are getting very old and don’t pay attention or don’t care much since they won’t suffer the consequences of trumpist .
