Are there restrictions about the watches?

For example, is a digital watch allowed?

What about calculator apps on smart phone?

Again, what advantage is gained from using a RNG at the table? Whether the RNG is a smart watch, analog watch, or a coin you flip. There are inherently numerous ways to generate a binary random number. The tool used really doesn’t matter.

I'm not really using the RNG function when I play, so I might not be the best person to ask. I have watched others do it.I do see video

Now's probably a good time to clarify that I assumed the spirit of this subforum was to discuss the actual rules as written, in which case I think the correct answer for most cardrooms and certainly almost all tournaments is you should use a non-smart device. In that sense, all of my posts are letters from a fantasy land where people actually give a shit about electronic communication devices being used during poker hands.

In the real world, if you like the timer app on your phone, use the timer app on your phone. No one's going to care.

Might not hurt to have an analog watch as a backup for peace of mind if you happen to get a 1-in-a-million persnickety table, but IME you will only need it one every million sessions.

I could set it to include 0 but then it would be 101 numbers.......

Or maybe 0-99?

Whether it's [0-99] or [1-100], it doesn't change things a lot in the grand scheme of things.

Oh yeah that makes sense. I was misinterpreting how you were using it. Thought you were asking How often should I do this thing? (which should include values for "Never" and "Always") as opposed to Should I do this thing now? haha.
