Why would you want to have this discussion? You already identified me as incompetent to discuss such things with the likes of you.

I didn't say you were incompetent in terms of your capacity to learn and participate.

I said you weren't educated enough at this point to be able to offer a competent understanding of why it's necessary for humans to adapt AFTER you acknowledged that.

You said that you WOULD get expert advice if you had the responsibility to govern. You don't seem to consider that a responsibility of a competent citizen.

I of course am not currently an expert on everything. Only you are an expert on everything, including, apparently, the establishment of a global police force, the establishment of a global legal system, and school and hospital staffing in currently underserved areas. It must be nice to be you.

I'm not saying that I'm any smarter than you Rococo.

I'm saying I've made it a priority to seek out the expert understanding of the climate and Earth system boundaries problems from people like Hansen & Rockstrom.

The type of government which is needed is a function of the survival challenge we face.

I am not a garden variety communist where the form of government is at the epicenter of my goals.

Survival is at the epicenter. Preservation of the useful aspects of human civilization is at the epicenter. I'm not interested in a future in which we revert to being cave dwellers.

I didn't say that you claimed to be smarter. You just have more expertise in every topic that matters for the establishment and maintenance of NutNut-topia. You have so much expertise, in fact, that you don't need to solicit the advice of experts.

It doesn't really matter whether you acquired that expertise through genius, intense devotion, or divine revelation. You have it, and it is comprehensive and astonishing. We don't. Therefore the conversation necessarily has to be one-sided. You are here to teach. And our role is to genuflect and be grateful that you are here to pass along your expertise.

I believe that necessity is the mother of invention. I believe that humans have an innate ability to adapt as necessary to survive.

I don't think any of the challenges you listed are unsolvable.

Will it be easy ? Of course not. There is a hugely embedded force of Machiavellian divide and conquer inherent in current leadership. They aren't just going to hand over their perceived power to people they would regard as usurpers.

The people at the top are going to have to come to the recognition that it's in their best interest. Historically, that recognition often comes at the unfortunate cost of a bloody revolution.

Indeed not. You apparently have solved them to your own satisfaction. That is why you are competent to offer opinions. If you needed to think more about any of those questions, or if you would seek additional advice as to those sorts of questions, you wouldn't be competent to offer an opinion about the form of government humanity needs.

I haven't solved every problem.

I haven't even figured out a way to get you to agree on a preference for the continuity of human civilization as a top priority.

I haven't figured out a way to get behind your mask and find out what lurks beneath. All I can get out of you is criticism. I have no idea of how you would like the world of humans to work in your ideal version.

For some people ..... particularly insecure people .... all you can get from them is their efforts to knock you down.

People who measure themselves vs others instead of measuring themselves against their own potential tend to try and bring others down a peg in order to feel better about themselves.

I understand that some problems may be impossible to solve. But you obviously have studied those questions and have expertise on those issues (and all other important issues relevant to NutNut-topia). That's why you are competent to offer opinions and we are not.

I'm not trying to make the conversation about me. I'm trying to make the conversation about the preservation of human civilization and what is necessary in order to achieve that goal.

I am a lot of things--some good, some bad.

But insecure about what I know and what I do not know is not one of those things. I have stated repeatedly in this forum how truly limited I believe my expertise is.

And considering you have been incredibly shady and in complete refusal to share your background, how does that bode for your competence in assessing the expertise of others ?

In the very beginning of the history of this thread, I posted some very basic science well within the comprehensive capability of a curious high school student.

But most adults don't know that science because they aren't sufficiently curious about it.

It doesn't take a genius to understand our predicament and I'm not claiming to be a genius.

I'm just curious enough and motivated enough to satisfy my curiosity. I'm also blessed (or cursed, take your pick) with an intuitive affinity for simple math functions and pattern recognition.

If you were curious to learn Rococo, we could go back through those science posts from early in this thread history and review them together to make sure that you understood what they mean.

Good point. I'm not an expert in space rocketry, which makes it virtually impossible for me to assess whether someone who proposes powering a trip to Mars with unleaded gasoline is an expert in space rocketry either.

I have no idea why you believe that our main source of disagreement relates to the science.

Let's try to unpack a particular problem which Rococo seems to represent as unsolvable.

Forming a global police force.

We already have a global police force. It's simply divided into different countries.

We simply have to add some new rules for the current police force to oversee. Namely, rules relating to environmental safeguards.

Over time, we would probably see a big decline in demand for police. If everyone is fed and housed and there is no money to receive from selling stolen goods, why are we going to need a lot of police ? As the demand for police and people currently involved in that profession declines, they get transitioned into more valuable work.

To the extent that there are rules related to regional cultures, then we allow those regions to maintain rules which are specific to themselves so long as they don't interfere with global environmental security. That's a concession that can be made in order to induce them to joining a new world order.

With the national and regional police structures already in place, all that is needed is an infrastructure such as the UN to bind the pieces together into a cohesive whole. Except unlike the UN, the new entity will be empowered and have jurisdiction and ultimately report into someone who has the accountability and authority to make it all work.
