ok but villain is described as solid, aggressive essentially midstakes reg. if the assumption is this player type is universally bad at poker and incapable of understanding position / ranges / nuance at all (this is clearly the tightest pre configuation in poker) i would tend to disagree.

is difficult to discuss poker if the conversation ends at "my intuition says this, the end"

I tanked a long time, wondering if he was bluffing. Somebody at the table called time on me. I folded. Later I engaged V in conversation. He didn't reveal his hand, and who knows if he was telling the truth, but he made the following comments: "I had a pretty good hand." Regarding my KK, "You made a good laydown", "The Ace didn't help me", and "I wouldn't have called if you if you 3 bet (preflop)"

My initial thought was A7 rivered 2pair, but from villain’s comments it sounds like 77 which would have folded to the 3bet. But after the flop, he’s going nowhere with a set. Decided not to push the issue on the turn in case a 6 put a 4-liner out there. Ace on the river bricked the draws, so he knows he’s good.

Or it’s possible he had one of the many draws possible and bricked. Villain realized your river check meant you had no ace, so he made a bet you couldn’t call. Tight players can be made to fold.

Every time I raise pre-flop with aces or kings and everyone folds, I think of situations like this, and smile. I feel a lot better with 2Pair+ before bloating the pot post-flop. My idea is to front load aggression with these hands & then pot-control unless you improve.

Weird bunch of things for V to say.

I can't see many regs. folding 88/77 or even JJ as much as solver does, if you 3bet. And solver loves to call T9s.
Maybe he opened J8s. Maybe he had like A9s and lied about river.
