Nut Nut's Attempt At A Book About Politics & Society
Dear Forum Members,
Over in the poker threads, they have members who blog about their poker experience. I've been wanting
There's a scene in The Dark Knight where Michael Caine as Alfred tries to explain the personality of someone like the Joker.
He says "some people want to see it all burn".
You serve a valuable purpose in one sense Lucifer. You are the embodiment of one who doesn't give a damn if it all burns. But you speak to a genuine deep darkness in the average person who understands at a primitive level that things are not going well for humans as a whole and understand logically that no one is steering the ship of our collective wellbeing.
That we have an enormous and fundamental Achilles Heel is obvious to all. It's not in the least big controversial or beyond common sense ...... all of our government officials represent selfish and tribal interests. There is no institution on Earth with the authority to protect us as a whole. The UN officials are aghast at the lack of action on climate.
Which by the way “we have a survival instinct” is also what motivates people to take short term gain over long term survival of the human race. The “survival instinct” tends to be centered around individual things we do throughout the day, like ignoring conflicts halfway around the world or eventualities of our collective action (re: the climate) in favor of personal mental hea
But it's a completly false framing. The radical left , in it's attempt to install "real socialism", has just concocted a completly false narrative according to which pursuing your own self interest efficaciously spells disaster long term "for the human race". That was never true a single instant in human history and isn't true today.
Everything good we developed in the last centuries (and before) came out of narrow, greedy, selfish attempts to improve individual conditions. All working cooperation happens because people cooperating realize they individually gain by doing that.
Given we achieved far more than even the most pink-glassed view could have hoped for in 1700, just by channelling greed and selfishness with capitalism without changing basic human nature, the collectivists can't deny the exceptional outcomes so they have to invent a Scylla and Charybdis in the future , the existence of which requires that we stop doing what we know for a fact is the only reason we live well (=fossil fuel powered capitalism), otherwise "the monsters of the abyss will eat us".
It's millenarian religious nonsense, the same old **** to try to persuade gullibly people to abandon what works in favor of giving power to the leftist clerics.
Instead of old scripts by far gone population as the basis of the millenarian prediction, they have modern clerics paid for their "research" by government, people who failed at life so went into previously irrelevant niches of obscure academic fields to try to get a living wage out of their overvalued education for which they overspent, who are very eager to produce whatever bullshit prediction model based on whatever absurd assumptions the leftist politicians tell them to produce.
Then they peer review each other work transnationally like the socialist party of Bulgaria told us the socialist party of Poland was great, and they use their own self-validation internal to their own religious sect as "proof" their model are right, and call it science even if it's just random predictions about the future written to steer policy toward leftism, not to actually predict the future.
It doesn't matter how many christian fundamentalists "peer review" the apocalypse, that doesn't change the predictive value of that book in the bible. It doesn't matter how many leftists who think their life would be better under a global leftist dictatorship peer review climate change direst predictions, that doens't make those predictions reasonable.
For the first 90%+ of human history, we lived outdoors and sometimes slept in caves.
We lived like lions .... in small family / community packs and had to learn how to deal with opposing packs in adjacent territory.
We competed with each other for the desired mate and nature rewarded ruthlessness and brutality in that competition.
It's burned into our DNA to fear other tribes and be brutal to them when the need arises.
It's burned into the politicians to mesmerize you along tribal lines. They're just hacking into your DNA and steering you like the nice cooperative zombies you are ..... to learn to belong to a tribe. Like the alliance to your political party or your NFL team.
It's like a computer virus .... except it's in our blood. Divided and conquered.

Humanity is in a decent spot right now, even if perhaps the spot was better in the 90s and we didn't properly capitalize on that.
I know why you try to depict my as a person that wants to see it all burn, but i am literally the opposite. I do firmly believe in technological optimist so the passage of time, ceteris paribus, always improve human conditions.
We do have a huge problem though, one which accompanied us since basically forever, and became bigger recently, the source of literally every societal human made problem in a very long while: collectivism. Ie people like you existing, thriving, having clout and power across society and so on.
Our problems used to be about material resource scarcity, diseases and so on. And ofc enemy tribes wanting to take our stuff.
We didn't overcame those 100% but enough to consider them very insignificant. Already with covid we have seen that the human reaction caused by collectivist did all the damage, the disease itself did basically none (the death of some elders is not a societal damage, actually it is very often an improvement of the lives of everyone else for obvious reasons).
Now the damage we ALREADY did to ourselves in europe because "the climate" is greater than the damage in the RCP 4.5 scenario in 2100. We already cut off a healthy leg to perhaps attempt to reduce problems in legs 80 years down the line.
So climate change advocates such as yourself already caused more problems to europeans than climate change will in many decades. As usual, you guys are the actual problem society faces every day, the tumor, the disease.
We know why guys like you exist, it's fairly easy to understand through behavioral genetics.
Both because pre-agriculture in 150 members tribe collectivism made sense, and because individually for low quality people collectivism can be a chance to access each a tad more resources than they would without collectivism.
So the genetic pulsion to collectivism exists necessarily until we remove it from the genetic pool which isn't easy at all.
But basically all of politics on the side of people like me who understand the only actual problem is collectivism attempting to destroy what works to make lives better (=unbridled capitalism and a libertarian ethos) has to be directed about how to minimize the societal damage people like you can inflict.
In europe we are failing miserably, because even "the right" here is heavily collectivist. It is a slightly less disastrous form of collectivism sure, but that's not enough.
The USA is the most succesful nation in the history of the world because it was constructed with institutions that do appeal to individualism and with a lot of barriers to keep the collectivist monsters at bay. It also helped to receive constant immigration of rough individualist escaping collectivist hellholes across the world, because political pulsions toward collectivism/individualism are highly inheritable of course.
SO we have basically to save the USA from worldwide collectivism and hope they can do enough to beat the legions of collectivist monsters in submission. That's why Trump leaving the paris agreements, the WTO and so on is so exceptionally important (and good for the future of the world). And that's exactly why you collectists see in him the worst enemy ever.
But to be clear, yet again, on my side we think it's you guys who want to destroy everything that is good with human live (freedom and prosperity), and that's the existential fight we are conducting.
I do firmly believe in technological optimist so the passage of time, ceteris paribus, always improve human conditions.
You believe in a fairy tale Lucifer. The world is run by ruthless brutes. They use technology to amplify their brutality.
The US had a record increase in official homelessness in 2024. 18%. The US is the home of a brutal economic philosophy. It's barbaric feudalism and the peasants are getting restless. That's why Trump was elected. To break the system.
Trump is just the avatar for the angry mob. He didn't make them ..... they picked them because he embodies their fear, anger and tribal readiness to engage in brutality.
You clearly have no affinity for the science method or process of validating how you fairy tale beliefs are manifesting in the real world. How do you create these fantasy bubbles which you live in ?
68,000 pieces of microplastic exposure per day. Per person.
Anyone think this is a good idea ?

The increase in homelessness in 2024 was entirely because of immigration do you realize that? not that the existence of homelessness disproves what i said.
Try not to be a collectivist for a second. That the lumpenproletariat exists and sucks doesn't mean the rest of the population can't have improving lives.
The analysis came in and we know why trump won (with thin margins). It was mostly inflation, and a bit men feeling democrats hate them (especially minority men, which voted for Trump more than they did for any republican candidate since like Nixon).
Taking a 49 to 48 win (popular vote) as a statement of paesants unrest is quite absurd tbh
Tribal gibberish ..... you're so locked into your addiction to drama and villains .... blame the dehumanized "immigrants"
You truly do live in some sort of dark fairy tale. No one could make this nonsense up.
Man if you take in poor people and they don't have enough to secure housing, EVEN IF YOU BELIEVE THOSE POOR IMMIGRANTS DESERVE HELP that's still not your society becoming worse. You just took in EXTRA DESTITUTE PEOPLE.
it was immigrants.
This is a LEFTIST SOURCE (LA TIMES)
Immigration made homeless numbers worse than they actually were in 2024
In releasing the Annual Homelessness Assessment Report in the last few days of 2024, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development cited immigration, along with the shortage of affordable housing and natural disasters, as a cause of the 18.2% increase nationally. But it did not provide an estimate of how much of the increase was from immigration.
In fact, more than three-fourths of the increase occurred in five states, among them California, that were prominent recipients of immigrants.
The inordinate influence of immigration suggests that year’s increase and, to a lesser extent, the 12% increase reported in 2023 are aberrations that will lead to a dramatic correction when this year’s count is taken this month.

Even if you feel like you’re in a position to rationally reject those predictions, most people aren’t. So it makes you wonder why people don’t think much about them anyway, even the ones who claim to be very concerned about climate change.

.
How would we prove that ?
You say its false .... I say it's true.
What data would a scientist look at to determine which one of us is correct ?
I would look at things like this ....
1) Plastic concentration in the human brain
2) Greenhouse gas levels and Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity
3) Reduction in Ocean pH (acidification)
4) Change in Sea level
5) Rate of overturning ocean circulation
6) Alteration of global wind circulation
7) Exploding cost of homeowners insurance
8) # of $1B+ extreme weather events
9) Loss of global albedo
10) Earth energy imbalance (W/m2)
Does a Lucifer use data in its theories ?
Just to clarify again for you Lucifer.
The scientific method works like this
Observation ==> Hypothesis ==> Experiment ==> Results ==> Theory
You continually offer conclusions with no data supporting them. You represent absolute certainty suggestive of fanaticism and brainwashing. My hypothesis is that you have an intellectual disability. An imbecile.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocean_acid...
Ocean acidification has occurred previously in Earth's history. It happened during the Capitanian mass extinction, at the end-Permian extinction, during the end-Triassic extinction, and during the Cretaceous–Palaeogene extinction event.
Three of the big five mass extinction events in the geologic past were associated with a rapid increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide, probably due to volcanism and/or thermal dissociation of marine gas hydrates. Elevated CO2 levels impacted biodiversity. Decreased CaCO3 saturation due to seawater uptake of volcanogenic CO2 has been suggested as a possible kill mechanism during the marine mass extinction at the end of the Triassic. The end-Triassic biotic crisis is still the most well-established example of a marine mass extinction due to ocean acidification, because (a) carbon isotope records suggest enhanced volcanic activity that decreased the carbonate sedimentation which reduced the carbonate compensation depth and the carbonate saturation state, and a marine extinction coincided precisely in the stratigraphic record, and (b) there was pronounced selectivity of the extinction against organisms with thick aragonitic skeletons, which is predicted from experimental studies. Ocean acidification has also been suggested as a one cause of the end-Permian mass extinction[69][68] and the end-Cretaceous crisis. Overall, multiple climatic stressors, including ocean acidification, was likely the cause of geologic extinction events.
The most notable example of ocean acidification is the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM), which occurred approximately 56 million years ago when massive amounts of carbon entered the ocean and atmosphere, and led to the dissolution of carbonate sediments across many ocean basins. Relatively new geochemical methods of testing for pH in the past indicate the pH dropped 0.3 units across the PETM. One study that solves the marine carbonate system for saturation state shows that it may not change much over the PETM, suggesting the rate of carbon release at our best geological analogy was much slower than human-induced carbon emissions. However, stronger proxy methods to test for saturation state are needed to assess how much this pH change may have affected calcifying organisms.

“What this study makes concrete is that we have a year for the start of the Gulf Stream (AMOC) collapse, around 2060. That is alarmingly closer than previously thought, possibly even within our lifetime.”
For the record .... the AMOC hasn't collapsed during the entirety of human civilization. The last collapse came ~ 13,000 years ago.

Albedo loss causes about four times more immediate warming than carbon dioxide emissions, according to “Global Warming in the Pipeline,” a 2023 article by James Hansen and colleagues.
Hansen’s analysis shows that albedo loss is not a subtle background shift — it’s becoming a dominant driver of global warming.
Tropical marine clouds contribute one-fifth of Earth’s albedo. But as oceans warm, these clouds are evaporating by about 1.5 percent per decade, taking their reflectivity with them.

The tragedy of the commons is the concept that, if many people enjoy unfettered access to a finite, valuable resource they will tend to overuse it and may end up destroying its value altogether.
The concept .... was discussed by the philosopher Aristotle, who observed ....
"That which is common to the greatest number has the least care bestowed upon it. Every one thinks chiefly of his own, hardly at all of the common interest; and only when he is himself concerned as an individual."
I think this captures Lucifer's perspective selfish perspective quite well.
Aristotle also said that the center of consciousness is the heart and the mind is only a heat dissipator.
He also called women "incubators" and though menstrual fluid was corrupted male semen.
Looks on par with the quality of your other sources

Just posting a copy of the 445 page document which 85 climate scientists have issued in rebuttal to the Trump Administration's hand picked stooges whose goal was to deregulate via undermining the EPA Endangerment Finding of 2009 re: CO2.

I think Aristotle had you pegged quite well with the above quote. This is exactly the world view that you espouse in this thread. That the best world is one in which everyone acts in their selfish personal interest. You routinely express contempt for collective interest.
Please stop with the spurious deflections and respond to the substance of the post.
Would you care to comment on the substance of the argument ?
Do you think it's a coincidence that American's and Jamaican's are dominating sprint events and Ethiopians and Kenyans are dominating long distance events or do you think there is a genetic element at work ?
It can be both genetic and have nothing to do with slavery. Which is obviously the case
This is yet another example of this guy using "facts" to then craft whatever narrative he likes. The climate hysteria has this guy fantasizing about "depopulation" and communism
Quick question. If we weren't having a climate apocalypse would you still be in favor of socialism or communism or are those just purely a tool for the climate?
How would we prove that ?
You say its false .... I say it's true.
What data would a scientist look at to determine which one of us is correct ?
He would check economic literature, especially the quantitative one.
It starts with a guy you might have heard of called Smith, that tried to explain to people that collective benefit comes from the individual pursuing his greedy and narrow self interest. He just spent his entire life trying to understand why the UK was richer than other places and that was his answer.
Adam Smith had an economic philosophy.
He didn't know squat about the environment. His philosophy predated a great deal of science discovery.
Your interpretation of his philosophy is that there is zero risk associated with everyone ignoring the collective interest.
How would you prove that there is zero risk associated with ignoring the collective interest ?
