Among the blacklisted terms: privilege … violence (as in “environmental violence”) … dialoguing … triggering … othering … microaggression … holding space … body shaming … subverting norms … systems of oppression … cultural appropriation … Overton window … existential threat to [the climate, democracy, economy] … radical transparency … stakeholders … the unhoused … food insecurity … housing insecurity … person who immigrated … birthing person … cisgender … deadnaming … heteronormative … patriarchy … LGBTQIA+ … BIPOC … allyship … incarcerated people … involuntary confinement.
Whoever put together this list is a god. I have been saying this since like 2021 after AOC spoke about Jan 6 in the most cringe way possible.
re: this stupid cracker barrel thing
It appears the right isn't opposed to cancel culture after all. I guess we knew this already from the stupid bud light thing.
I think we all know I’m not a far leftist when it comes to this issue. I see a genuine problem with putting people in women’s jail when they transition while in custody or facing trial. there is a genuine interest that overrides acceptance of trans people that should never have been controversial in the first place.

They never were. I remember Bill O'Reilly 20 years ago urging people to boycott the Dixie Chicks over their anti Iraq/Afghan wars/GW Bush stance.

My understanding is that 'cancel culture' is when a third party initiates the cancelling of something lots of folks want.
It's fine for Bud Lite drinkers to boycott their favorite beer. That is not a third-party trying to silence or cancel the company.
Like at Berkeley folks came to listen to a speech by the lovely and talented Ann Coulter, but an angry, violent mob 'cancelled' her appearance. I think it happened to Milo, too. Those were REAL examples of cancel culture.
For the record, I think drinking lots of beer is unhealthy. I'd like to see every beer and liquor company go bankrupt.

And it was fans of the Dixie Cup Girls (or whoever they were) who boycotted the group. It wasn't a third-party who silenced the Dixie Cups. It was their own fans.

Heading over to Rowling's twitter, should be fun.

I can't put my finger on why I think this, but for some reason she looks like someone who would have the name Charlotte Schneider.
Most of the outrage seems to be based on the fact that she's Cuban.

With any luck, they'll make a quick stop in Milwaukee to sort our streets out after they're done in Chicago. We're right down the street!
On my way home today there were two what I assume were homeless crackheads blocking traffic on the corner of Clybourn and Water St, and then on I94 eastbound just past the stadium, two women were quite literally walking in the middle of the freeway. I was westbound and drove by right as the Sheriff was coming on scene. The women were in the middle lane with traffic still getting by in the other two lanes, but traffic just behind that was stopped and the freeway was at a standstill for the entire 4 miles until my exit. My westbound side was completely clear. There was a Brewers game today, so I'm guessing there were a lot of very cranky tailgaters stuck in that.
Bring back the mental asylums and unleash the troops. Go be annoying somewhere else. We're trying to operate a society over here!
Basically true. They keep things mostly in the "center" of what they're ok with--they can range out a bit possibly as long as it doesn't really touch the money. The only way it would be possible to go strongly in a left direction with the money too would need massive&consistent public support that couldn't be disrupted. And at this point even if most people were to start heading back heavy left they would plunge this country into darkness first before going back I think.

lol .
And don’t think someday the military that is accepted to intervene on US soil , couldn’t intervene afterwards on something you actually love/care about and then good luck complaining about it ….
Accepting a military/federal/gestapo police just for such insignificant things is pretty dumb .
Yeah they would never use it for other insignificant stuff afterward that could infringed your right and liberties …
Again :
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

For people being on the side of wanting smaller, less powerful and less intervention from federal government, it’s totally the opposite trump is doing lol.
you even applaud it smh .
