2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
You are correct about the rotation of WR's. With Vele gone Pat becomes a starter. Denver feels that Pat will be a better version of Vele and a lot younger. I think the pie in Denver will be large. Getting rid of Vele shows their confidence in Pat as well as the rest of the WR's. This will open a roster spot on a team that is extremely deep with talent. Engram and Dobbins almos
Mims won contests last year. Franklin did not end on a high note. And Pat is an overdrafted third round rookie.
If you agree it’s a rotation, then you can’t also think Mims is a bad pick. Any week he can go off, and what matters is who goes off in week 17.
Guys like Sherfield are what hold back WRs in this offense. It’s how Sean likes to play, and he’s made it abundantly clear.
I’ll keep mixing everyone in, but it’s hard to be bullish on any single player outside of Harvey. Harvey is my primary Broncos target.
Here were the surrounding picks:
41 - Tyreek Hill (Mia - WR)
42 - George Kittle (SF - TE)
43 - TreVeyon Henderson (NE - RB)
44 - Mike Evans (TB - WR)
45 - Breece Hall (NYJ - RB)
46 - Marvin Harrison Jr. (Ari - WR)
47 - Terry McLaurin (Was - WR)
48 - DK Metcalf (Pit - WR)
49 - RJ Harvey (Den - RB)
I already had 2 WRs and 1 RB. Prob would've taken MHJ as the overall pick without considering position. I passed on Harvey, and then Pollard, who went in the early 50s.

Payton moved up to get Pat. A lot of people made fun of that pick saying he would have gone possibly a couple rounds later. Don't you think Sean Payton will be giving Pat every opportunity to prove him right? Pat doesn't drop passes. Pat is also a great blocker. He's gonna be on the field a lot.
I'd say catching a 50 yard TD bomb in the playoff game was a fairly high note for Franklin. I'm less interested in what he did last year and more focused on how much more improved he is this year. Don't underestimate the chemistry between him and Bo.
Mims is a bad pick because he goes in the 10th and Franklin now goes in the 17th. I think Franklin will have a better year. I think Mims will be good too. Give me the bargain ascending 17th rounder.
I'm more than happy to be ahead of the curve on players going in the later rounds.
Payton moved up to take Mims and made Mims the first pick of his Broncos tenure. A pick higher than where he took Pat. He sure hasn’t given Mims a ton of opportunity.
And ya, Franklin’s line of a 50 yard bomb for a total of 3/2/54/1 was real game breaking. It was also cool how he fell to the 4th round after being hyped as a borderline first rounder to then have a terrible rookie season.
Sean doesn’t give a **** about investment. You either earn it or you don’t.
If you think Mims will be good, you should also draft him in the 11th at his ADP. He’s WR58. He can’t both be good and a bad pick at that price.
Having some more thoughts on this First Quarter contest. Thinking that median projections >>>> ceiling. We probably don't need more than 4 RBs since the CV backs shouldn't project as well since not as likely to see the field as they would be in a full season contest.
Maybe 2-4 QBs is optimal to help with advancement and then getting a high score in the playoffs?
Goff, Bryce
Chase, Cook, Trey
ARSB, Sutton, Pearsall, Jennings, Keon, Legette, Bryant, Piere, Franklin, Ray-Ray
Engram, Kincaid, Gesicki
Pug 2 dropped $12x3
Finally get a an early start in the 1-4 so I can do this KC/BAL stack, and then I'm seeing there's a possibility Rice might actually start his suspension at the beginning of the year.
Lamar, Dimes
CMC, Harvey, Pacheco, ETN, Tuten, Pierce
Rice, Flowers, Odunze, Mims, Palmer, Hollywood, M Wilson, ADM
Andrews, Otton
Yeah, there’s still a chance they come to an agreement. But I’d say it’s more likely than not the 9/30 hearing happens, given how far away they seem to be on the total games.
Rice and the NFLPA will simply not accept more than 6, based on the CBA. It would be a terrible precedent, and the players already concede enough. Maybe the NFL will come to their senses and realize a judge will side the same way.
Why would they have fired Payton after one season of Russ that was out of his control? They gave up a first and a second for a third to get him.
So are both Brob and Guerendo undraftable now?
Na, I like this. And the community should too, considering how terrified they are of CMC’s injury history.
BRob’s price obviously needs to drop. Guerendo probably will a little bit. I think they should both be in the 15-18 round range. So much uncertainty at RB in that range.
I was still clicking BRob occasionally since I had been mostly fading (4%) in case he got a good spot.
Come with me on a small diversion from DFS, and discuss guillotine leagues.
For those who play in them, what is preferred format? I've had arguments around the following:
Optimal roster size (I prefer expanded starting rosters, i.e. 2 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, 2 Flex, maybe even 2 TE)
Include or not include K & DEF (highly variable, too much matchup hunting)
Optimal bench size (probably the most important topic IMO. I prefer very short benches, 2-3 max, to force difficult rostering decisions with bye weeks and less stacking)
Scoring settings (4 vs 6 pt TDs, PPR or 0ppr, etc.)
Waiver settings (I think FAAB is pretty much mandatory for a guillotine)
Anything else?
I don’t play Guillotine because the waiver work takes too much time for my preference. FAAB is 100% mandatory.
I like the idea of larger starting lineups and smaller benches. It puts a lot of pressure on waiver decisions and doesn’t penalize quite as much for sit/start decisions.
First SF in a while, didn’t realize that ADP is a little broken so missed some chances on Bill and Egbuka mispricing
Tlaw, Love, Rodgers, Milton
Saquon, Warren, Mondre, Ekeler, Roschon, Keaton, Corum
CD, Reek (time out), Hunter, Pickens, Golden, Dyami
Kraft, Goedert, Jonnu

Never played guillotine but if you have room I’d like to try it .

A lot has happened since the last contest haha. Looks good. I’m looking forward to firing my 3. I think I’m going to pass on the Rottweiler.
SF
JJM , Tlaw, Russ, Gabriel, Browning
Gibbs, Henderson, Warren, Blue, Roschon, Keaton
JJ, Tee, Hunter, Egbuka, Addison, Slayton
Andrews, J Ferguson, Fannin
Here's my SF team. With these being a much smaller final 62 v 375, I'm probably going to worry less about heavy stacks and W17.
Jayden, Ward, Dart, Lance
Chuba, Harvey, Jones, Skat, Sampson, Giddens, Hunter
Nico, BTJ, Ladd, Kirk, Mims, Thornton
Ertz, Chig, Theo
The team invested more in Guerendo than BRob. Guerendo has been with the team way longer. BRob’s current team just completely gave up on him, when their RB is pretty shaky.
SF
Hurts, Cam, Shough
Achane, Trey, Dobbins, Javonte, Sampson, Dowdle, CRod

The Niners are so confident in Guerendo they felt the need to trade for BRob. Maybe if Guerendo wasn't so brittle with injuries and in and of games I might share your view. He suffered a knee injury near the end of last season and already has a shoulder issue in camp. BRob will eventually be the number two back in this offense.
