To follow on what Mark's implying, so some self-searching and be sure those are things you want, and are not just feeling pressured by society/gf/whatever into following the "normal" path because that's what you're expected to do.
It's not for everyone. I realized when I was of an age where being a parent was still likely that I didn't want to spend a quarter of a million dollars to have a screaming turd geyser come live with me.
Of course, that means you miss out on some positives, but it's worked really well for me. My misanthropic nature might have exposed itself then.

Couldn't tell you about kids. Have never wanted that and found partners who agreed. I'll just say "don't have kids to please someone.". Not fair to you or to the kids

Hobby group. We met a bit at one event, then saw each other a another 4 or 5 months later and had just enough connection for me to try a cheesy line on her. It didn't work, but she was interested anyway and amused rather than annoyed.
current one...only 7 months in, so doesn't qualify for life partner status, but it's indicative of where I'm at in my life. I went up and introduced myself to her while she was waiting at the coffee shop, said I was interested to get to know her and asked her if she'd like to go for a coffee or a drink or go for a walk with me.
