When sports were integrating trans women into women’s sports they obviously had hormone requirements among other things. No one was ever talking about a guy putting on a wig and calling themselves a girl.

If I had to guess: it's because unlike most lefties pushing for more men in women's sports, the ones arguing against it have some actual personal experience with physical competition and know what a truly terrible idea it is to break the barrier to entry. It's not unusual to get extra riled up about something you feel some connection to.
Completely lost in the conversation was the guy who correctly pointed out that if we opened up the WNBA to men, plenty of local high school boys would happily jump at the opportunity to outperform the current WNBA roster and make $2000+ per game played. Ditto for soccer.

The only thing preventing it in most cases is the social stigma. One of the 8 trans threads had plenty of video examples of it in action, though. The goal was to not let it spread beyond those relatively rare cases.

I don't think there usually are any transition requirements. Where that kind of thing is permitted at all (and in British sport it now mostly isn't) it's just done by self-declaration. The man doesn't even have to wear a wig -- Lia Williams didn't.
