President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Useful idiot or not, Trump is a true OG associate of Russian mobsters in NYC. This is well known. His wives are Russian ladies. He talks to Putin face to face like once a month. What if Epstein was KGB? His ancestors were all Soviet.

This dude has some insane ramblings and someone thought we were the same poster? Shame

Lol, trump going after gs ceo.

by weeeez

How do you even recognize ICE officers
They wear masks, no badges and come unnanounced.
Maybe they are just unlucky

Many such cases

They should do Undercover Boss tv show, but make it Undercover ICE.

My Robinhood account is only down $13 all time now... thanks Trump.

Trump has a more meaningful role in your sex life than the stoxk market

Actually I got some play the other night too first the time in I won't say how long but it's been a bit

So Trump is really doing great

On a serious note, he affects people’s mental health much more than he delivers anything tangible

quite bizzarre to deny trump effects on the stock market (both good and bad)

The principle that he operates by is not so much lying for his benefit, but more overruling reality as a primary way of being in the world. That's why he can stand up there and say things that are blatantly and demonstrably false, and not bat an eye about being "found out." He has overruled reality in his own mind; he has changed it. That's not someone squirming away from the truth when in hot water, that's an estrangement from reality, a revoking of it, a veto of it.

As his minions and those riding along on his coattails blanch just a touch at endorsing such blatant perversion, they tell themselves it's okay because the culture war must be won. If it's a tad fascist at first -- then fully fascist -- so be it. If it doesn't fully work -- doesn't turn the US fully authoritarian -- they'll ultimately abandon him with the same prejudice he wields from the depths of his soul, and claim they were never for any of it.

But the massive majority of counties in the USA are for it. If they pander just enough to the base and base-extended, they can pull it off.

It all kind of reminds me of hilarious political commentator back-in-the-day H.L. Mencken's line that they would all be for anything including cannibalism of children if it got them re-elected. That's proven true and not so funny.

More face-eating leopards

The number of medical staff on hand to treat veterans has fallen every month since Donald Trump took office. The VA has experienced a net loss of 2,000 registered nurses since the start of this fiscal year, the data show, along with approximately 1,300 medical assistants, 1,100 nursing assistants and licensed practical nurses, 800 doctors, 500 social workers and 150 psychologists.

“It’s a betrayal,” said Manuel Santamaria, 42, a disabled veteran who served as a US army medic and paratrooper in Iraq and Afghanistan. “It takes away the government’s accountability to veterans who have sacrificed for them.”

yep

one of these things is not like the other...

At least one Smithsonian museum has already made moves to correct public-facing content. Earlier this month, its National Museum of American History removed references to Trump's two first-term impeachments from an exhibit following a review.

The Smithsonian said in a statement Tuesday that its work "is grounded in a deep commitment to scholarly excellence, rigorous research, and the accurate, factual presentation of history.

I wonder how this will go..... (no I don't, I'm pretty sure I know)

Ten years after the Supreme Court extended marriage rights to same-sex couples nationwide, the justices this fall will consider for the first time whether to take up a case that explicitly asks them to overturn that decision.

it goes that no certioriari will be granted, ie they won't hear the case, with 99%+ probability

Why exactly does this woman have standing to pursue this case, and directly to the Supreme Court"?

Here is a thought run better candidates and have better policies

Off to Scotland again. Grocery prices may be up, but it’s time to pay me another 10million to let me golf. I’ll send you the bill later for the national guard standing around the DC mall. Shut up about Epstein.

she lost a civil lawsuit for damages to a homosexual couple she refused to sign the marriage certificate of.

afaik she lost on appeal so she can petition SCOTUS, which ofc can refuse

I find it hilarious that the most popular defense of trump by his supporters is a neo-con term/tactic lol

Overturning same sex marriage would be a pretty monumental achievement

I am not going to get my hopes up though

Even though Obama was an extremely racist President he did have reasonable views on illegal immigration and gay marriage.

National debt looking great, fiscal conservatives must be loving it.

obergefell was heinously decided (it's obscene to claim a right to gay marriage exists in the federal constitution, it's a punch in the face of the rule of law, a complete fabrication, as per Scalia dissent) but i don't see this court reversing it now that congress passed a law with a very similar effect (which is constitutional because of the full faith and credit clause).

so it would be a pure culture war thing with no real life effects, and I don't see either Roberts or kavanaugh voting for cert with nothing to gain in exchange for that.

in theory the other 4 could all vote for cert and that would be enough, but what if kav & roberts blackmail them saying they wouldn't reverse?
