2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
Yeah, I think the days of 6/7 turn Egubka are coming to an end.
Fun puppy. I missed the news about Taylor's high ankle sprain. Would've passed.
Fields, Penix
Breece, Cook (58), Pollard, Mason, Allgeier
Puka, London, Evans, Diggs, Pittman, XL, QJ (178), Malik
Goedert, Mason, Higbee
Mattison, Wright, and Gordon all scored.
Which helps no one.
Milly
Kyler, Fields, Stroud
Hampton, Pacheco, Benson, Braelon, Shipley, Brooks, Giddens, Gordon
Nico, BTJ, MHJ, DeVonta, Hunter, Jennings, Malik
Kincaid, Henry
That's a nice summary from jimmy.
I think on a general basis, the advice in that thread is still good. There have been a few adjustments such as more RBs earlier and less WR heavy than last season, though, that could still be wrong.
Thx jimmy & tarheels
What do you think about non-stacking in the 10 and 12-teamers?
I definitely have BB strategy in mind in regards to team-building. But with no playoff format, I think it's better to focus on overall value and totally ignore the end-of-season correlation angle. Thoughts?
Ward, Tua, Shough
Kyren, Breece, Warren, Blue, Tuten, Monangai, Gordon
ARSB, Nico, Ridley, Flowers, Olave, Shaheed, Malik
Hock, Otton, Arroyo
Allen, Bryce, Geno
CMC, Dobbins, Skattebo, Sampson, Wright, Trev ETN
Pickens, Waddle, Egbuka, Downs, Shakir, Aiyuk, Thielen
Bowers, Theo
Both look good. Jimmy, I might have gone 2 QBs and 8 WRs, but 3 QBs also seems fine. Some of my favorite builds lately have been Bowers in the 2nd and either Lamar/Josh in the 3rd with Geno as my QB 2 and stopping there.
My last Puppy SF slow just finished haha. Pretty wild when the contest closed on 7/4. Slows don't usually take that long.
What do you guys think of this leverage play? I did it in the Puppy 3 so don't mind experimenting, because I'm tired of drafting the same combos with Chase. I went MHJ and Kittle at the 2/3 over McBride. So leveraging off of McBride with MHJ + w17 + betting on Kittle instead, who is almost never going to be selected there and is never making it back to the 4/5.
Thx jimmy & tarheels

I don't play the SNGs, but yeah, you definitely care way more about focusing on total points value than strategies like stacking, late season rookie upside, etc. Of course, stacking can also be good, but you don't need to chase it nearly as much as in the big field tournaments. All you care about is beating your draft room. I'd imagine very balance builds where you try to allocate draft capital roughly equally to each position and will likely end up with 3-5-7-3 being the most optimal build structure. Currently injured/suspended players become less valuable too.
I think pulling up Kittle there is definitely something that you can do at low frequency. I think there is an ADP loss cost and tier loss there that is almost for sure -EV so I wouldn’t wanna do it at scale, but a couple shares is fine
I like pulling up Kittle on Chase teams to be unique. I know I've got a CD/Kittle team where I did the same thing.
It's that time of the year where I'm going to start taking bigger stands (thru the first 10 rounds), by focusing on 4 players per round. Whether it's guys I just want to keep getting more of (Waddle), or players I feel I'm too low (Kupp) on right now.
I'll change it up each week based on ADP and current exposures. Here's my group for this week. This is for UD.
Roster construction is still king. If I happen to start with 5 WRs, then I'm not going to draft Olave or Deebo in the 6th. I'll try to limit my reaches to 10 spots ahead of ADP.

Definitely, and I think especially with Chase it makes sense, due to how many Chase/McBride combos there will be. I also like doing it specifically with MHJ, since I don't think both MHJ and McBride will pay off their cost, due to Kyler. But I do think there's a good chance one of them pays off.

That'll be a fun way to keep diversifying. Agreed, as long as you're still following good roster construction and respecting ADP for the most part, the player combos can mostly be whatever you want them to be.
Hurts, JJM
Hampton, Kaleb, Mason, Guerendo, JCM, Hill
JJ, AJB, Hunter, Deebo, Mooney, Palmer, Nailor
Loveland, Goedert, Likely
RIP Mattison. Sorry newguy. That's good for Wright and Gordon.
Mattison was my last pick in that Puppy SF I just finished lmao.
Thankfully I didn't get too much.
Mattison - UD (1%) / DK (1%)
Wright - UD (9%) / DK (13%)
Gordon - UD (1%) / DK (7%) - 11% in the big board
I think I got it backwards though. I think Achane should be the guy you take mostly on DK and then Wright/Gordon should be the guys you take strictly on UD.

Ok cool, yeah that makes sense.
I think my builds last year were predominantly 2-6-8-2, but I got two fairly good and experienced QBs, and an elite TE + TE2 the majority of the time.

"The Athletic’s Jon Machota believes “no one has come close to running away with the No. 1 job” in the Cowboys’ backfield."
J. Blue seems like the only reasonable player to take in re-draft leagues.
Drafted Puka and simultaneously got the sleeper alert that Stafford isn’t practicing
Blue definitely has the highest upside of anyone in that backfield. I likely won't have any of Javonte/Sanders in managed leagues, but I've been mixing all 3 at underweight clips in best ball.
Also, officially very concerned for Stafford. Allegedly McVay said he was improving and feeling better and supposed to practice today. Guess who isn't practicing today?
haha, that's why I always try to remember to sort the queue by ADP or rank
or maybe they got tilted because they got sniped on Andrews
I’m guessing they queued up Andrews and TeSlaa and didn’t notice Andrews was taken haha
Feel like I should’ve gone 3663 here
Mahomes, Baker, Tlaw
Achane, Kamara, Tuten, Allgeier, Hill
Puka, Worthy, Evans, Hunter, Shaheed, Legette, Royals
Loveland, Otton, Arroyo
Yeah, I think so.
On the theme of attacking RB heavier this year, especially on UD, I've basically been viewing my builds as starting 3 RBs and 3 WRs each week, with the hope that RBs are mostly filling my flex. Thus, I try to have a closer to even distribution of RBs/WRs drafted, especially with how heavy I try to attack WR in the first 8 or so rounds.
And with someone like Royals specifically, seems more likely a RB in that spot more likely to hit in an impactful way than him.
The good news is I've been boosting my Burrow exposure. I've been taking a lot of Tee in the mid to late 2nd now, so any time Burrow is there in the 6th, I'm taking him.
Here's a scenario. I know I said I was done with Shough, but I think he did enough yesterday to maybe be back on the menu for some builds. However, I feel like this team probably needs another RB more than Shough, especially with this Spears ankle now.
Purdy, Herbert
Omarion, Cook, Spears, Allgeier, Sanders
CD, Reek, DeVonta, Olave, Pearsall, Aiyuk, Mims
Kincaid, Otton, Juwan
The RBs available are Brashard, Monangai, Tucker, Corum, Hunter, Kendre, Ollie. I'd probably take Monangai, Tucker or Corum.
I have 2% burrow, I wish I had slightly more, but even when I get Tee in a mid round pick, Burrow still doesn’t come around to me ever haha
