I can't speak for anyone else but the military is one of those things where, while I don't really agree with everything we do, the troops themselves deserve to be treated well for volunteering to put their life on the line

It really isn't. Nobody stopped the Rwanda genocide and the British had to push the Americans into the NATO action that stopped the genocide in former Yugoslavia and Kosovo. The US wasn't bothered, and it's not bothered about Gaza even now (when Germany, Israel's second biggest arms supplier, is finally banning arms exports applicable to the Gaza operation).

It’s hard to count genocides that don’t happen because you’re a world superpower though. We can just see the weakening of the US has made the world more unstable and prone to genocide.

With a completely non-interventionist USA with no international allies to defend, you would have 10+ kosovos per year forever (if no other huge military comes up to play the same "world police" role).

I don't think so, on the whole. Ever since the failure in Vietnam the US has been viewed as weak and unable to accept casualties. (It only took a couple of truck bombs to make Reagan withdraw the Marines from Lebanon in 1984, tail between legs.) US and allied military power may deter the Chinese from seizing Taiwan for now, but it doesn't deter them from oppressing and eliminating the Uyghurs, any more than it deterred Saddam from gassing the Kurds. It also failed to deter Putin from invading Ukraine with the aim of eradicating Ukraine's people, language and culture. The US military has been almost absent from Europe for some time and the only things that stop Putin going further are NATO air policing, in which the US plays only a marginal role, and the British and French nuclear arsenals. Putin knows perfectly well that the US, with its monumental reluctance to get off its great fat behind, and its exclusive concern with domestic opinion and domestic economic indicators, and its perfect indifference to its supposed allies, and its overwhelming fear of casualties, can always be played and cowed.
