Why do players at WSOP final tables always have backpacks?

In the videos, when they get busted out, they always take their backpack.

why do you need so much stuff bro?

pros

To carry their winnings home in

The backpacks are overkill.

If you become a full-time traveling tournament pro, you will start carrying a backpack also. Mine has a couple of fossils, several different snacks (dried fruit, protein bars, etc.), drink addins to flavor water, Blue Shark Optics glasses, various drugs (ibuprofen, allergy meds, nasal spray, etc.), some band-aids, some clean wipes, and more. Other than the snacks, most of it goes unused for long periods of time. But when you get hit by allergies, or a headache, you are super glad to have the stuff at hand.

This must be why I never make a WSOP final table

Like Fossilman sez, when hard time hits, you are going to wish you had a backpack full of stuff i.e. food, water, socks, underwear, TP, fem hygiene, meds, etc.

No one knows when it will hit, maybe while you are at the final table.

My laptop is in there so my best friend Dominik Nitsche can use it to run real time ICM software and figure out my GTO ranges/frequencies better than my opponents.

obviously busto homeless players.

Those items are definitely rare that no casino gift shop carries them. Definitely a scarcity of drug stores around.

I like to carry an oxygen tank and scuba gear in case the casino gets flooded. Also good to carry an IV in case you're hung over and an extra liter of type O blood. All can easily fit inside my backpack/medical kit. You never know and will be sad when you need it and don't have it handy.

Because its easier to have all the food/snacks/other **** you will need for the day then it is torching 8 dollars on a gatorade or 14 dollars on a hotdog.

Sorta like baggie ties & rubber bands in the back of a kitchen drawer.

Cliffs: need a place to store your fossils

To hit your card when you get the money in behind. Pro move when getting your chips in behind is to stand up and start to put your backpack on, its like a covert "one time".

Here is another move that works, count out your chips to pay off an all in before the cards come out. Ran into this one over the weekend.

In the money in a tournament on Day 2. Got it all in pre with my QQ vs opponent's TT. He asks for a count and counts out chips to pay me off and slides them in my direction before the flop comes. Ten in the window obviously.

This is a very weird think to be annoyed about. Women carry purses everywhere with all this sort of stuff and don't get any criticism.

A lot of WSOP tournaments involve playing for 11 straight hours without a dinner break, so you're definitely going to need to have snacks, and you don't really have time to go to a store to buy whatever else you might need.

It would be nice if players put a little more thought into their appearance when they are at a televised final table, but I can understand why they might see being comfortable is more important.

Biggest thing I always wanted it for was the hoodie - if you've ever watched Negreanu's vlogs, you know that some parts of WSOP are super hot, some are comfortable, and some are subartic. Always want the option to wear it or not.

In all seriousness mostly this. When I play a tourney that will be 10-12 hr days in my backpack I have a hoodie, some snacks, some bottles of water and a phone charger.

Totally agree with the appearance, you don't need to wear a suit or anything but if you know you are on stream I sometimes question why some people look homeless. Seen may people in basketball shorts a white undershirt and flip flops. Is it that hard to put on a pair of jeans, sneakers and a clean shirt.

For me its these two for sure. Plus I'm old now and carry around a little lumbar pillow thing for my back, its a life saver on the crappy chairs there.

I'll just say its vegas in the middle of summer, so I wear gym shorts and a comfy t-shirt almost every day, every sports psychologist / book in the world would advise maintaining your normal routine when you are in a stressful situation, which a final table is. Plus its freakin hot up there the way they do their stage lighting, I think its insane how many pros / randoms are wearing hoodies or the full vogelsang thing, I am usually melting in shorts and a t shirt up there!

Baggie ties are hard. We save them off of Bread wrappers since even other bread products don't have them anymore (like buns, bagels, etc.).

Where else are they going store their nodelocker?

On any given random day of the WSOP, I certainly agree that players should wear whatever makes them comfortable.

But it would be nice if players would acknowledge that to a certain extent they are representing themselves as ambassadors of the game when they are playing a final table, especially a televised one. That said, there’s a lot of money on the line and it’s a stressful situation, so I can’t really blame anyone for their choice here.

I will say that when I made my first (and so far only) final table at a WSOP Circuit event 15 years ago, I wore a dress shirt and suede blazer. I ended up winning the event and ever since then, my winner’s photo has been my profile pic on Hendon and it’s like the 2nd pic that comes up if you google my name. So I’m glad I made that choice. (Though this was the middle of winter in Atlantic City.)

Sounds like a good plan until the internet is out (i.e. MGM hack) or the power is down, then you can be like the rest of the sheeple whining about not having anything with you.

Im not gonna lie if I made a streamed WSOP final table I would show off my best outfit. Ahhh look at that drip
