English Football Season 2025-2026. Here we go again.
Welcome 2+2 to the English football season of 2025-2026.
This year I am going to make the thread officially for all of E
While I am a tad nervous about moving for Sesko, United have scouted him for years. And at 22 he has more top-flight, CL, and National team experience than Højlund did when United moved on Højlund while bringing in a lot more firepower to help him. United are “fine” on the backline for this season, it’s the MF and GK that gives me serious worries. United need a solid 6 to bring
This should make you more nervous, not less. I don't see it with Sesko at all, thought he was mediocre at best the games I've seen him play which admittedly is very few.
I do agree that United still aint winning **** with that GK and midfield.
If I was a Manure fan i'd rather go for Watkins short term than Sesko imo
Maybe Toon will go in for him instead?

I’d disagree about being nervous irt them scouting him for this long. They *should* have a better idea as to what they’re getting rather than someone they only recently looked at. That Arsenal were trying to move for him is at least a positive sign. But, I also have no choice but to roll with it.

Personally, I am in the Watkins camp. He turns 30 in December and could theoretically get another 2-3 solid years from him to let Chido develop or at least kick the can down the road and see how the market shakes out over the next summer or two. That isn’t what happened, so I just hope United loan Chido to a side like Ipswich and see how he handles the Championship.
Decades of not coming close to competing for the Premier or Champions League and yet he still ghosts Newcastle for Man U lol. Probably about wages I guess.
Newcastle having a summer on par with Keir Starmer.
Decades might be a slight exaggeration, only 12 years since they were last PL champions.

And United have been in more finals as well as winning more silverware than Newcastle since Fergie retired. Don’t get me wrong, United have provided many lols the last two seasons, but they’ve consistently been finishing in European places in that time as well.
I get it, for many of us who have watched United over the last 30odd years (which is the bulk of probably 75% of this the posters in this thread’s lives) the current performances are hilarious and rather unflattering. But United still have won trophies in that time that for many teams would be a pretty successful run.
All right yeah fair enough and heritage also could definitely be why he made the United choice. I'm only guessing it was wages, no idea what was offered.
I'm not sure how signing the guy who had a minor hit with The Thong Song helps United
lol Arsenal.
Pepe scoring at The Emirates
I think it’s a pretty bad look that a portion of the crowd boo’d him. He wasn’t even terrible or anything…not his fault that crook Raul paid 72m for him and lined his buddies pockets in the process.
Xhaka who was hideous unplayable dogshit for a good chunk of his time here and threw the armband on the ground I’m sure will get a hero’s reception when he comes back with Sunderland.
Elneny gets love because he’s smiley but it’s not really ok to like Ozil anymore.
Arsenal fans are really weird sometimes.
We should look into buying Nico Pepe. He looks like a decent winger. We could use someone - I think Martinelli is cooked - Brazilian Iwobi.
Also I hope we didnt buy Gyokeres to make him come back for the ball from upfront and passing it back. When we attack from the sides at least cross it to him, there were 3-4 chances yesterday that is an easy cross for the striker, but we decide to cut it back for a play around the box - we need to get used to playing with a striker it seems.
Mosquera is looking impressive along with Noorgard (albeit a bit slow here and there). Preseason and all that, but 1 open play goal from 3 games played is not filling my little soul with confidence. Also Dowman looks like he wants playing time and how he played over these games I think he deserves it.
Refs in the two button meme this season, torn between encouraging scything tackles on an arsenal kid and protecting a future Ingurlund star.
If I was a Manure fan i'd rather go for Watkins short term than Sesko imo

Watkins is incredible obviously, but it would be encouraging (from a United perspective) to finally see them shift towards building for the future instead of buying established stars. Best case scenario Watkins helps this current squad finish in a EL or ECL place this season when he’ll be 30?
Same knee as last time too :/ Poor lad can't catch a break
An end to his hope of making the world cup squad as well more than likely. Damn.
Scott McNominate
I dont really understand how Newcastle struggles to sign players this window.
Did the oil money run out?
Edit: Fabrom just posted that Sesko will make less at United than he would have at Newcastle.
I did read that Newcastle (82,5 with 2,5 in bonus) outbid ManU (75 with 10 in bonus)...
But I dont think he will make less in Manchester than in Newcastle right??
Otherwise I wouldnt get the preference at all.. No european football at Manu vs CL at Newcastle

I agree it's not Pepe's fault we paid 72m for someone who had 1 good season in the worlds biggest Sunday league but come on. He was straight garbage. Waaaay too light for the Prem.
I love Ozil.

I mean, it's Newcastle. 2 decent seasons won't change the fact it's Newcastle.
lol I was only just reading speculation Nicolas Jackson to Newcastle for £70m yesterday. IDK if they will ever be able to sign another striker again.
Poor lad - so rough. He is something we absolutely need too, I guess Deki or Kudus might be put there now. Until we sign Grealish.

The way he and his agent ****ed clubs around it became pretty clear they were after the biggest wages. Fair enough but lol Sesko.
Spurs twitter having another meltdown over their transfer window and lack of CFs and LBs.
Truly terrible to see.

Was Maddison playing centrally? If so, I doubt Kudus there will work well. He’ll score some spectacular goals but fail to get his head up so often that you’ll want him shot.
