Smooth call
If the guy’s a maniac as you suggest, let him bet your hand for you. No reason to raise and alert him. In a 5way pot, it’s possible he hit this flop hard, but if he did, I don’t think he donks 85.

This bet into a crowd should be enough to clear out the field unless one of them hit the flop hard. If you get squeezed, I think the decision becomes very difficult, but no reason to believe you’re behind at this point.

Ok we call, v1 calls as well.

Pot 405
Turn 7 all check

River 2
V1 bets 100, V2 raises to 250, H folds

V1 calls and won with 2J
V2 mucks and said he had 99????
In retrospect maybe we probably better off raising flop vs v2.

Enjoy following your hands. You know me by now, I don’t know nothing about nothing, but I think you could greatly improve your game by applying pressure on the turn.

The turn is where things become honest. Cbetting the flop is so common, it almost means nothing anymore, but on the turn things get real. Your weakness emboldens villain.

The 7 was a good card for you, giving you a strong 2pair with a hidden overpair. I just don’t know what you’re waiting for. I was a defensive football coach for most of my life, but in this game you have to play offense; you have to attack.

I’m only trying to help by telling you how it appears to me, but it looks like you’re playing too high stakes to properly attack the game. You are avoiding risk. I can’t imagine you bluffing ever.

I do something similar sometimes and I have to fight it. When I get short in cash or tournaments, I will do the exact opposite of what I should do. I find myself limping in like everyone else and trying to hit a hand. A loser’s game.

I know that I should play raise or fold, but this game can beat you down to where you try to find the careful play. Sometimes you lose, that’s the nature of the game, but you’ve still got to be ready to fire.

Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!
