President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Since hogan was part of the media lately ….Kind of ironic he supported trump and maga while he made his hogan character in these first few lyrics in his stage entrance…..I guess the 1980s are truly dead today when a guy like trump earn a majority in the popular votes ….

To be absolutely clear, Hogan was an absolute scumbag piece of **** and my initial reaction to his death was uproarious laughter and mockery, and since he’s been dead my stance remains uproarious laughter and mockery

There's only been two other jobs reports that have been this far off in the last 100+ years. Q2 of 2009 (great recession), and Q1-Q2 2021 (pandemic). Both were tied to catastrophic events. Otherwise, numbers are usually +/- ~1%.

To be 258k off, and off so much for consecutive months is banana republic territory.

Stagflation, here we come. :(

Turns out the numbers were rigged. But its ok, Trump already fired the offender.

by checkraisdraw

yes victor we know you bleat on about a country with a population of a few million while ignoring what’s happening to the 340 million+ people that live in the US.

The 350M people are largely responsible for whats happening in the country of a few million.

But you’re so right wing you don’t understand things like this.

Do you want Trump running ANY federally-funded media firm?

This is a poor argument. I don't want Trump running the DOJ or the State department either.

Or the EPA or the IRS or the FBI or the DOE or a Twitter account etc etc

Did he actually ever run a business that was a success, rather than a scam?

Baby steps.

can't tell if you're trolling or putting a cultural value on it instead of calculating profits and losses

by biggerboat

Well he's firing the head of the bureau of labor statistics because he doesn't like the job numbers.

I'm sure they will be great from now on.

Going back to this I’m definitely curious what his end game is

Complete fraud in the stock market by installing someone who will put out fraudulent job numbers?

Not that I'm aware of, but I'm often wrong. His close friend Epstein said he was an idiot at everything but real estate. Before he won the 2016 election, he was about half a billion in debt to Duetsche Bank with no way to repay. After 2016, he was able to force his scams on everyone, so he's rich forever.

I never really thought about it, but I never realized there was so little behind the scenes communication between the BLS and the Fed. I guess it makes sense, Powell can't do something and say, "well you'll see why in a few days".

I can’t tell whether you think Trumps business escapades make him a shrewd businessman or a disaster.

you ever think about how this is all happening because the nfl owners wouldn't let him run the buffalo bills? yeah, me neither...

Turnberry showed a half-million profit for the first time in 2022, after eight years of much bigger losses. Much of the improvement was due to wedding bookings. Trump's other Scottish golf resort at the Menie estate, near Balmedie north of Aberdeen (where I imagine you get to play in interestingly challenging conditions most of the year, when it's even light enough to see what you're doing), was last heard of in 2022 recording a three-quarter-million loss: although revenue was up 74%, government grant funding had fallen from £128,000 the previous year to just £10,000. Around that time, a New York judge found Trump guilty of misreporting the value of his Balmedie property.

The reason why Trump, with an elephant's memory for slights, wangs on about wind farms ruining the landscape is that in 2015 the UK Supreme Court dismissed his case against a wind farm within sight of the Menie course. (I mean it probably does spoil the view -- again, when it's light enough and clear enough to see anything at all.)

Trump has been very good at sucking cash out of businesses, going bankrupt and leaving the bond holders hanging, and then convincing the bond holders to put him back in charge. Rinse, repeat.

Well, it's a living. Pays quite well, seemingly. Not sure why the law permits it.

“Greed is good” mfs have to ruin everything for everyone.

Trump being BY FAR the most corrupt president in American history certainly isn’t news, but it really goes to show how much of a stranglehold he has on the Republican Party that he can accept a $400 million dollar plane from a foreign government, divert $1 billion in nuclear safety funds to retrofit to code with the intention of it going to his presidential library, and this doesn’t even make anyone bat an eye for longer a day when in any other presidency this would be the biggest scandal in American history

Like, this hasn’t been discussed ITT in forever despite being like, giganticly problematic for a thousand reasons

If anyone is following this saga about the US Attorney for New Jersey, it’s pretty funny

-Trump names one of his personal defense attorneys, Alina Habba, Acting US Attorney
-Her biggest accomplishment in 90 days is arresting the mayor of Newark for trespassing and then having to dismiss it like a week later.
-Rule says after 90 days, if there is no formal Senate approved nominee, then the judges of the NJ district get to pick someone.
-Judges pick the First Assistant - who was actually put in the role by Habba.
-AG Bondi declares this lawless and fires the First Assistant.
-Bondi then appoints Habba to be the new first assistant and therefore the new/old Acting US Attorney.
-People sue and say Habba’s appointment is unlawful, with the result being to basically freeze all litigation involving the government in New Jersey.
-The entire NJ bench is recused so it has to be before a judge in Pennsylvania.

Presumably, this is all happening because they don’t think Habba can get through the Senate, which is insane considering all the people they’ve shoved through already.

I guess no maga or republican ever watch 5min of George Carlin .

Still today they don’t listen ….even tho it all became true !

probably because i said neither

i think he's the single greatest buffoon in all of history

however, if you're going to assume none of his ventures were profitable then he ran the world's greatest ponzi for decades - which by all measures was successful in that it led to a presidency

you can absolutely despise him - and there's so much to say about him that makes him objectively disgusting and vile that it's just stupendously foolish to include such subjective analysis which will undermine any credibility you could have had as a leading voice of reasonable dissent
