President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
I think it would be trivially easy in any city in the United States to do what this guy did. There are a lot of people in midtown Manhattan at 6:30 p.m., but it isn't Shabuya Crossing. Just wait a minute or two until the coast was relatively clear and then walk 20 yards into a building lobby. And even if there was a patrol car going by on the other side of the street, there
As a non American, not used to gun culture, I still find it bizarre, the CCTV clearly shows him with an assault rifle in plain view.

Seriously, how could anyone not notice that? There's nothing even obstructing a view.
naw, it's cool. i've been told that an AR-15 is basically just a .22
Anyone else think Epstein nailed Melania?

Seriously, how could anyone not notice that? There's nothing even obstructing a view.Because it was a very short period of time, because he probably picked a moment when no one was particularly close to him, and because everyone stares at their phones on the street.
We are not talking about a large distance. You can see the front of the building from the photo in this article. The road is very close to the stairs.

Seriously, how could anyone not notice that? There's nothing even obstructing a view.Let's say you were there, about 50 feet away, and you noticed the gun. What would you do?
So Trump and his family are now allowed to his gifted (not a bribe!) 400m jet post-presidency? This is of course after the taxpayer funded upgrades to make it suitable as Air Force One. But don’t let this distract you from the Epstein files, or any of the other countless scandals.
If you still support this guy, you truly stand for nothing.
That entire plane would need to be disassembled for the required upgrades to act as Air Force One, and then disassembled to take them out and turn it back into a civilian aircraft.
For both cost and timing reasons, none of that will happen. It's a distraction tactic.
Always thought soccer is popular because it is extremely cheap to play it, easy to play anywhere, and almost anyone can excel at it (tall, small, big, thin don’t matter) shrug.
That does not explain why it is the whole world's most popular spectator sport. (Except for India and Pakistan where they're fixated on cricket, and the odd cultural backwater like North America.) In fact, because of the elements of touch, manoeuvre and ball physics among other things, the game -- genuine high-speed 4D chess, the fourth dimension being time -- is too hard for anyone to play perfectly and it is very difficult to score. This makes many matches dull, particularly in men's professional matches where each side is concerned mainly to shut the other side down. But it also makes many matches dramatic and nervy in an edge-of-the-seat way.
Makes perfect sense that it would be the most popular spectator sport around the world if it's also the only real option for childhood sport participation.
Americans watch NFL the most because it's a true visual spectacle, and works perfectly as a companion piece for socialization. Natural, frequent breaks in the action to accommodate discussion, and then high intensity, easy to follow action. Enough of us played it as kids to have been exposed to it and bring our wives along because they always want to hang out with us for some reason.
I played every major sport except hockey as a kid, and the only thing I've ever watched with my full attention as an adult is the NFL. I would rather do literally any other activity, up to and including knitting and/or my taxes than watch baseball or soccer on TV. It's beyond boring to watch, and unless you need to keep up with it for social reasons, I just don't see the appeal.
But if I'm from a part of the world where baseball was by far and away the most popular youth activity and everyone I interacted with knew something about it, then I'd probably watch some baseball.
That's how soccer keeps its top spot worldwide. You can play it naked with a literal ball of crusty rags tied together with twine. The same is not true for most other "ball sports".
Edit: I think you can probably do rugby with a ball of rags tied with twine, but only the Aussies and Kiwis are insane enough to run at each other full speed without padding. I could see watching that more if America was too poor for pads and helmets. Seems like the kind of thing we'd do to each other.
The frequent breaks in football are why I don’t enjoy it. Stopping every 15 seconds for 2 minutes is boring as hell.
Soccer indeed plays out like chess, and it’s thrilling to see the flow develop throughout a match. Yes, it’s very difficult to score and they don’t throw out made up point values like candy.
As far as I know, this isn't what happened. I'm sure he just parked illegally in front of the building and walked straight in. He probably was "walking around" for less than 10 seconds.
That’s exactly what happened, and so far not even Ann Coulter is blaming this on NYC Dems.
Speaking of social media though, it IS currently at peak extra chromosomes over Sydney Sweeney & American Eagle.
Example: the WaPo ledelink says the campaign backfired while inside they note AE’s 18% stock bump.
Looks her personal wealth estimate has octupled in less than a year too.

If it wasn’t for gambling & fantasy Caitlin & Paige would outdraw it, nvm college football.

Trump is going to rush those upgrades like Reagan rushed the Challenger launch. Skynyrd landing definitely in play for the maiden flight.

You may like auto racing, then.
All I see is hurr durr car turns left, car goes straight, car turns left, car goes straight; but I'm told there's a lot of strategy involved. Plus, sometimes you get spectacular crashes and fire. One of my close friends from gradeschool went to work for a NASCAR team, as was his dream from early childhood. Loves every second of it.
I just searched "2024 soccer highlights" on Youtube and the first hit was a game where the first clip in the video was a flop, and then just a bunch of stuff with 10 dudes stacked up near a goal and someone sending the ball sailing over or into the side of the net. The single goal of the match was at 75 minutes when someone ****ed up a header and sent the ball right into the waiting foot of an opponent who had nobody in front of him and won the duel vs the goalie.
The athleticism required to run around non-stop for 90 minutes and not trip over the ball is undeniable, but my god, do something interesting. Make the goals bigger or cut the teams and pitch size in half.
I played goalie as a kid on account of being a giant with a huge wingspan. Never made it to the level of skill where most of my job wasn't being done by the opponents themselves being pretty awful at aiming.
As an excuse to go exercise though, soccer is fantastic. America could use a lot more of that.
American football is an unlikely candidate to be interesting to non-American viewers because it is a highly strategic, coaching-intensive game, and that element of the sport isn't very accessible unless you grew up around the sport.
I don't know what to say to people who think that soccer is boring except "watch more of it." Is it annoying to watch some team bink an early goal and then try and hang on playing a low block for the next 80 minutes? Sure. But I don't understand how you could actively watch a decent amount of high-level soccer and find it boring.

I learned about this yesterday and my eyes just about rolled out of my head. They're going to sell a shitload of jeans.
This has somehow checked every single one of the boxes. Nazi propaganda, fascist, racist, misogynist, etc. Some ad agency has a bunch of people doing cartwheels in an office somewhere.
One video involved some dude crying on camera and talking about how this is exactly what you would expect from a MAGA actress. Their citation for Sweeney being a MAGA plant is that her mother had a birthday party with red hats that said, "Make 60 Great Again".
The Internet was a mistake.
