15bb shove with A2s from mid position

Small tournament on GG, daily type, mid tourney, avg stack 20bb, I’m ca 15bb, shoving A2s from mid position. Ok or too loose?

Too loose.

Standard open is OK, we don't have too many shoves at 15BB (and maybe not any from this position). We start shoving hands like this, with an ace blocker and decent equity when called but that can't call a shove, from the cutoff or later.

Exact point of tournament and exact position would be helpful.

MP+1, just after the rebuy period ended

GTO chart has A2s as a raise-fold with 15 BB from the HJ (with no ICM adjustment). A3s is mixing raise-folds with some jams.

So jamming A2s is likely slightly -EV but not horrendous.

Definitely downloading this app. I had 10yr of a break from playing, good to see they became so useful

which one is it?

My screenshot was from the pokercoaching app, but it's a paid subscription.

I’ve just downloaded 3 of them and this one, Preflop+, offers free access to Nash charts

Yeah I downloaded that app before. Maybe they've improved it by now, but when I tried it out a couple years ago it was full of bugs and didn't work very well. I eventually deleted it. I can't remember if it included call/3bet/fold ranges or just RFI ranges.

Whatever works though. Really you just need to be able to view the charts to check spots.

You can't shove A2s for 15xBB from mid position, but it is a good shove from CO or later.

A bit too loose, but you are on the right idea that small suited A's fall into this category of shoving, this is a good sign.
15BB and under ranges are the easiest to study, so if you invest in a good tool and take some trime to study you will have this part of the game covered in no time.

Yes, my intent is to Play as good as possibile but i can only do this when i understand why

Stack is too big and position too early to shove this. Also, this sort of hand plays better against a loose calling range of a 10xBB shove from CO or whatever. You would rather get called by KQ or A4 or whatever than hands you are 30% against.

Yep you're right, thanks for the example

How is that app working out for you? Or did you find something else that works better?

I've been playing around with using the gtowizard free preflop charts. They're very robust but are difficult to navigate quickly, unless I'm not aware of some shortcuts.

I still prefer the poker coaching ones as you can quickly select from dropdowns to set position, stack size, etc. The problem with them is they don't include ICM or multi way scenarios.

You see a lot of errors with this sort of thing in WSOP videos. Like Mizrachi shoving AJo UTG for too many BBs. Someone raise folding AQo for 12xBB when push > raise/call > raise/fold. Common errors are missing short stack shoves from late position with marginal hands, and shoving what should be raise/folds and vice versa. I know what the ranges are and don't spend much time with software.
