Anyone else notice a trend for people 3betting small out of the blinds recently?
I've noticed, what appears to be a relatively new phenomenon, which is people 3betting 7-8bb from the blinds (the SB in particular)? I've only really noticed this in the past month or two in 5nl & 10nl zoom on Pokerstars. From what I've seen it's typically not the better players in the pool who are doing this but I've seen a few regs using this sizing as well.
From seeing hands at showdown I have seen this sizing used for more speculative hands (66-88) all he way through to top of range hands (KK+)
Anyone else notice this and if so do they know what's driving it?
This seems really bad as they're going to be in a positional disadvantage with an increased SPR post-flop. I presume the best counter for this is to take advantage of the pot odds and widen my calling range?
How should it affect my 4betting range?

It is definitely bad to give in position players a good price
It’s a bad strategy either way
