So let me make sure I have this right. Relative to much of the US the Epstein thing isn't that high on my issues list as awful as it is. But here we go:
President Trump, currently seeing a lot of backlash over his administration's handling of the Epstein situation, which was something they'd been hyping up themselves, now claims it all to be a hoax perpetrated by the Democratic Party at least to the extent of his involvement in any wrongdoing.
Earlier this month the Department of Justice reported that Epstein's victim list exceeded 1,000 people.
Meanwhile, he sends Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who in 2024 was Trump's personal defense attorney, to interview Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell over two days. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for various sex trafficking convictions as part of her relationship with Epstein. Beyond those convictions, some victims have given testimony that she was also a direct participant in the abuse.
Maxwell notably is trying to appeal her sentence claiming that a 2007 plea agreement made with Epstein should apply to her. Which from what small part I understand may have some legal merit, though most of the opinions I've seen suggest that it's unlikely that SCOTUS would hear this appeal, but not impossible.
Questions on the possibility of pardoning Maxwell have also come up but Trump is at best non-committal. Quote from yesterday: "I'm allowed to do it, but it's something I have not thought about."

And the awesome thing is , w.e being said, trump could always hide behind the fact it’s his lawyer that said it , not him.

Generally it’s understood with these host countries that fifa’s corrupt bullshit and legal mandates are more important than yours, which is why to this point every host nation has had to make some sort of legislative compromise to bend to FIFA and its sponsors’ will which always amounts to ‘we care more about making sure we get massive attendance and concessions and payout to us and don’t give a **** about what laws you have in place that would ordinarily make it not as good a time for the patrons’
