President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
You are threatening me with a ban because I believe trump is the least power hungry president we've had in recent memory? This makes you the ideal 2+2 political mod.LOL at the idea of banning someone for having an opposing view. Let me guess you lean left?In all seriousness, look at what he has done or has try to do in terms of reducing the size of the federal gov't. The same f
Size doesn't equate to power. Does a 30,000 pound bunker buster have more power than a nuclear warhead? (No if it isn't obvious)
Abortion as a state issue is delegation of power
DoE is delegation of power
Covid policies haven't been relevant since 2022
He didn't reduce absolute funding to the executive branch at all, he just moved it to a gestapo
Hes actively telling Coke to add sugar, telling the Commanders he will block their staidum if they dont change their name, dictating what ****ing t-ball leagues can and cant do, and sueing colleges to be an overbearing anti 1a authoratarian.
Its actually complete ****ing nonsense that you are saying things like "gov't shouldn't be everyones daddy" while they are abusing EOs to micromanage the lowest levels of society with illegal nonsense. They are actively reducing the checks and balances against them.
I dunno, I could go on and on how you are basically a paid shill or a schizophrenic person but I have a strong suspicion that you wont even read this post
Trump is ranting about obama rigging the election (that he won).
Til I learnt reducing government = not power hungry.
lol

I'm not sure if you are trying to be funny or you are bad at analogies. I never claimed the size of everything equals its power.
However, when it comes to the size of a gov't the more money they control the more powerful they are - with few exceptions. There is a reason why people say the president of the US is the most powerful person in the world and not the president of Gambia, Laos or Serbia.
So you agree he delegated that power to someone else. At least we see eye to eye on some of this.
During an "emergency" trump wanted to error on the side of being less authoritarian and every dem politician fought on the side of being more authoritarian.
He didn't reduce absolute funding to the executive branch at all, he just moved it to a gestapo
Gov't GDP was around 18% before the financial crisis of 2008. After '08 and covid it has ballooned to 25-26% and it is projected to drop to 22% in 10 years. Remember whenever a politician talks about cutting spending they are just cutting the previous growth rate.

I haven't heard anything about coke. The redskins thing is goofy, but I get that after the huge swing we saw towards "woke" he wants to swing it back the other way past "normal".
I'm not sure what you are talking about with your t-ball comment. Are you just referring to the idea we should have sports separated by sex like we have had for the previous 50 or 100 years outside of the last couple? If that is what you are talking about are ready to say "trump is a champion for women's rights" and he doesn't care if he hurts a few transgender people along the way?
If we want to be fair we have to allow all colleges and businesses to discriminate on the basis of race or none of them. I am glad he went the route of aggressively attacking racism when he sees. This is one of the main reasons I have said trump has done more to reduce racism in this country than any other president in our lives.

He isn't micromanaging society. In fact, he is doing the opposite by destroying so many regulations.

lol yes, people needs higher interest rates ( keep raising the debts) by having tax cuts (couple hundreds per years saved) so they can have thousands $ of increase payment for their mortgage for example.
Yes I saved 100 in taxes but I pay 2k more per year on my mortgage is a great bargain for republican like yourself .
Creates more debt for corporations because they obviously need it …
All time high stock market .
All time high buffet indicator .
All time high government debt.
All time gold
All time high bitcoin
Etc.
Etc
Yes more debt for tax cuts is a winning strategy .
Ps: again and again, prices of assets going higher dot not create gdp….
It’s called inflation .

Yes , believing trump trying to impose his view about what the judicial should do in Brazil and Israel , treathening them if they don’t comply is certainly not a power hunger move …..
Dictating what universities , cola cola ,etc should do .
I though u believed government shouldn’t intervene in micro managing issues in private entities ?

Montreal you are canadian. Canada is wierd world outlier where you don't have fixed rate mortgages that keep the same identical rate from the day you take it to the end (unless you refinance that at a lower level later on).
Most countries included the USA have fixed rate mortgages as the main (or almost exclusive) way to get a mortgage. So what happens to rates the day after you get your mortgage is none of your business, your payment stays identical.
When rates go up it's new buyers who are screwed in normal, non-canada-like countries. But that's a very small portion of the population vs everyone who already has his house who is 100% guaranteed and sure about what he will pay.
Btw the 10y rate is the same it was the day before the elections that Trump won

It really is mind blowing that any sane human could say that trump isn't authoritarian. Even hardcore trumpers think he is.
They don’t think that he is, they love that he is
....the USA have fixed rate mortgages as the main (or almost exclusive) way to get a mortgage.
This is not correct. Use of adjustable rate mortgages in the US has gone up and down quite a bit over the years. Here's a paper from the NYFED talking about it.

You are claiming that reducing the size of government makes it weaker but its just concentrating the same power to his most loyal supporters
Delegating power isn't a reduction of power. Its explicitly a power move. Like, if I told you to ban anyone who said Trump isn't authoritarian you could just say no thats your job.
You can't claim Trump cares about women after using Epstein as a bludgeon then retreating with no resolution.
What Trump is doing isn't "fair". Its explicitly political targeting.
Again, you get something completely backwards like a schizophrenic. Good talk I guess. I can tell you read a lot of the same right wing content as Luciom. I'd be perfectly happy if you never posted here again.
I listed various examples of congress being constrained by existing debt not allowing it to pass laws as the majority would have wanted, if they had more money to spend.
Pretty sure what made difficult or impossible for Biden or democrats for the last 20 years passing law wasnt the debt level but the constant republicans doing everything in their power to stop w.e thing democrats try to do ….
Not debt !

Let me guess, 4-5% interest rates on 19 trillions is the same as 4-5% on 35+ trillions debt ?
I mean for a guy that just said debt prevent the US government to do much , it’s a strange comparaison …..
Ps: again no idea wtf you talking but we do have fix mortgage rates in Canada shrug

Your link is from 2010.
We are in 2025.
In 2019, 92% of existing mortgages were fixed rate

They had a trifecta. They could have passed literally anything they had 50 votes for in the senate in reconciliation (which affected the budget and followed reconciliation rules). They did pass 2 mega bills with that.
They passed the covid relief act 2.0, and the "inflation reduction act".
Republicans opposed everything like democrats are opposing everything of the "big beautiful bill", that's normal politics and didn't determine what got passed.

Don't jump around. You claimed people were going to pay more for mortgages because of rates caused by trump.
1) rates are the same as before trump got elected
2) mortgages are almost all fixed rate in the USA
That's it, you just had no clue about the topic you chimed about.
In Canada you do NOT have fixed rate mortgage for the whole duration of the mortgage (which is usually 20-30 years). You can fix your rate up to 5 years. You are a unique, a ridiculed country for that aspect, no one else in the world is like you.
This is so funny

Buried in amendments to the Interior Dept. Gov funding bill, is a stipulation that the Kennedy Center Opera House must be renamed the 'First Lady Melania Trump Opera House' in order to receive federal funds.
The Appropriations Committee adopted that amendment by a vote of 33-25.

You can just paste the numbers into the tweet tag
By the way, the guy finding this "funny" is trying to claim along with that schizophrenic guy that Trump is the least power hungry president ever

Congress is passing it not Trump.
And congress always had the power to name facilities to which it donates money to, so there is no "grab", it is a power that always existed and which has always been exercised.
How do you think the center came to be called after Kennedy to begin with?
Congress decided to name it after JFK after the assassination in 1964 and Johnson signed that law, and so any future president with a malleable congress can change it and it's not more authoritarian than any predecessor if he does so.
Quote tiring for you to claim that doing what others have done before and wasnt criticized at the time becomes authoritarian (????) of trump does it.
OF COURSE you are disgusted by trump stripping a famous democrat of a symbolic place. But that's a criticize about how to use power that is constitutionally given to congress and used democratically and with no authoritarian bend.
You just dislike the choice. Doesn't mean it's a power grab to use your ****ing legal powers any way that it is legal to do so (!!!!!!)

Yes …no one bought houses since 2022 …..at like double home prices since 2016 , with much much higher interest rates near double if not more for mortgages …..
Isn’t because some people bought a house in 2017 at 30 years mortgage rates that others won today more , smh….
Here u to u idiot ….
Now tell me there is no difference again.
The concept of the economy and what people pay are the same as 2016 because it got near the same interest rates level on the 10 years is pretty dumb .
Prices aren’t the same .
Debt level aren’t the same.
In Canada , i signed twice 7 years fixed …oops .
There is 10 years fix too .
It’s just about what people usually chose , nothing to do on what it’s available ….
So don’t worry I know a damn lot about that sector and no , I’m not like u posting 200 post per day on thing I know nothing about ……and again claiming many thing in Canada that isn’t true , exactly like the idiocy of believing u cannot exceed 5 year fix mortgage in Canada …..thx .
Montreal, the 30y avg mortgage rate was... The same the day before the election.
So, for now, Trump and congress didn't change anything from what was the case under Biden.
From your own link.
Because, imagine that, it tracks 10 and 30,y yields almost exactly.
