President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Personally I would have thought it was obvious my post was a dig at an anti-immigrant nativist fascist devoting his life to dictating how Americans should live from another continent, but evidently i was wrong

It was obvious, but calling someone a foreign POS strongly suggests that you object to a poster at least in part because the poster is not American.

That isn't great.

by weeeez

it's pretty much like talking to a chatbot.

This is an incredibly valid criticism. The dumbest LLM in the world would have no problem imitating Luciom almost perfectly.

Accurate example of society currently. MAGA

by jjjou812

While I applaud you for destroying his logic and reasoning, luciom’s adolescent, half-baked political theories have been repeated ad nauseam here. Giving him another opportunity to rail on about the leftist violence that must be destroyed with state violence to save humanity over a sports team name and logo is akin to giving oxygen to a fire. Maybe if we all ignore or not en

Convincing the overwhelming majority of posters to ignore Luciom is not an achievable goal imo. I'm not even sure that allowing 200+ posts of unrebutted right wing extremism per day across virtually every thread would be a good idea. I also have no confidence that he would stop if people ignored him.

I think the only realistic options are status quo, containment, or ban.

He shouldn't be getting involved but he is correct about returning them to their rightful name. It's time to put a stop to the woke left attempt to pussify this country.

"Only pussies think that sports teams should avoid racial slurs" is a wild take. Truly.

“Their rightful name” sounds incredibly stupid.

“Their rightful name” sounds incredibly stupid.

To be fair to him, he probably thinks the name Washington Redskins was named by an Indian tribe.

Of course there are many examples of non-offensive native american team portrayals, like Florida State or the Chicago Blackhawks or The Chiefs

Turns out having an Indian caricature named Chief Wahoo is polarizing. Or I guess we could just change Howard's mascot to "the blackskins". Maybe there is a semi-pro cricket team we can call the brownskins

I do object the specific case of Luciom referring to the American Right as "we" considering his ideological overlap with the American Right is relatively insignificant and he isn't and will never be American

Key thing about the "redskins" nonsense is to note how conservatives absolutely love the idea of a heavy-handed federal government that dictates what private sports teams are allowed to name themselves.

It's faced criticism since the 1960s by Native Americans and widespread criticism since the 90s.

I also found this blackly amusing in an oxymoronic sense, when whinging ensued regarding the inclusion of black players.

Isn't SRM Iranian?

by weeeez

Holy ****, I'm using the new forum version and ignore completely remove the user, it doesn't show any post at all(no bs this post is hidden because...), no option to unspoil.
This is beautifull.

edit: you don't see the quotes also!!!!

You actually do see the quotes when done by other posters, even if you don't see the ignored posts, or I do anyway.

Obviously this

He’s essentially Caitlyn Jenner parroting hateful MAGA bullshit thinking she’s one of them only to be mocked and chased out of a convention when she finds out even though she talks like them they’ll never accept her

Iranian-American perhaps, but I would be shocked is he is an Iranian citizen posting from Tehran.

Nothing but crickets chirping of course. Regardless, this is just the latest Epstein distraction— anything to change the news cycle.

by chillrob

Widely reported by whom? I don't remember hearing anything like that, and the BLM protests had nothing to do with Native Americans.

BBC

/ But amid protests over police brutality and racism, major sponsors FedEx, Nike, Pepsi and Bank of America all called on Mr Snyder to consider finally changing the name.

ABC

"This process allows the team to take into account not only the proud tradition and history of the franchise but also input from our alumni, the organization, sponsors, the National Football League and the local community it is proud to represent on and off the field," he added after receiving pressure from FedEx, which owns the naming rights to the stadium where the team plays in Landover, Maryland.

But FedEx wasn't the only corporate sponsor who supported the change. Nike and PepsiCo also followed suit, with Nike allegedly removing all of the Washington team's merchandise from their online store.

According to Adweek, 87 investment firms and shareholders asked the three companies to terminate their relationship with the organization unless it changed their name.

/

CBS

Following recent racial justice protests, the team faced mounting pressure to remove the native American moniker from sponsors like Nike, Pepsi and FedEx. Merchandise was also pulled from websites and store shelves.

^^ Right, the general public wants their sports teams to not have racist-ass names, the team owners want to have a non-offensive brand, but somehow conservatives think it's appropriate for the federal government to step in and micromanage companies and overrule the free market.

Also:

major sponsors FedEx, Nike, Pepsi and Bank of America all called on Mr Snyder to consider finally changing the name.

So Nike and Bank of America are part of the "woke mob" now?

It doesn't matter. Your post is offensive, hurtful and xenophobic.

by StoppedRainingMen

I think the thing I find most ludicrous about this whole wealth redistribution in the name of ‘small government’ bullshit is if you really thought NPR, PBS, DOE, etc etc etc was really a woke leftist blah blah blah, you now control the government. You can install sycophants to tilt all of that to your favor if you really wanted to like you did by giving ****ing ICE a bloated bu

I doubt trump even considered turning pbs into a right leaning media company. Having the fed govt fund a media company is what someone who wants more power would do. Trump has continuously showed us how he is the least power hungry president we have had in a long-time.

They were part of the entities threatened by rioting mobs yes. There were riots in 30 + cities sponsored by the party that was up in the polls and going to govern the country a few months from there.

That's a direct threat to any corporation that wants to still be allowed to do business in the USA, and so they bent the knee accordingly. Same as many corporations are bending the knee to Trump today. Except trump didn't mobilize violent mobs in 30+ cities.

That's literally, objectively, and measurably true, but they go crazy when you say that.

They can't even fathom the concept of a politician that acts to reduce the powers of his office.
