1st week of August.
How's Vegas a couple of weeks after WSOP? Getting great room rates so assuming it's dead lol but thought I would double check how empty it is ?

I had fun going out there in mid August last summer.
Not sure if you are tourneys, cash, or both. In terms of cash, there are always tourists in Vegas for various events.
As far as MTTs go, Wynn Signature Series will be 8/21-9/7 this year. Any Wynn series is always great to play.
Venetian always has stuff running.
Last year August was a mix of the usual local suspects and some WSOP stragglers still hanging around Vegas for whatever reason.
I enjoyed my August visit. I plan to be back again this year.
What games are you trying to play?
2-5 NLH is my primary game. But wouldn't mind splashing around low stakes PLO either.
And correction, it's actually the last week of July I was looking at, not August. So definitely no interesting tournaments going on. Will be just cash.
I'm back to Sapphire status with MGM resorts since I haven't been for a while but still getting ~100 per night rooms at Aria/Cosmo including resort fees so I just figured it would be pretty bare. Basically just wondering about all the news I've heard of international tourists skipping on Vegas.
Probably the reason the rates are so good is the heat!!! Vegas can be miserable. That said, I've been and I haven't had a problem finding games (I mainly play PLO). It's not going to be as good as other times of the year, but it's still Vegas 😉
Not sure about the international scene. I wouldn't come to America if I didn't have to :( Then again, there is no place like Vegas.
I love living in the U.S. and being an American -- I feel very fortunate even though I am appalled at a lot of what's going on in our country. I sincerely hope my love of America doesn't change. That said, I wouldn't want to visit America right now, and I'd do my best not to 😉

Along these lines, see #2 below...
While I was in Vegas the last two weeks of June, the two best tee shirts I saw were these...
1) A late 50s/early 60s man walking through Horseshoe during the WSOP Senior event, wearing a tee that said "It's Weird Being The Same Age As Old People"
2) An Hispanic male, probably in his 30s, wearing a tee that said "I Only LOOK Illegal"

It's definitely a deader time of year for Vegas bc of the heat and people clear out after wsop poker wise. But status is irrelevant for room rates/comps.
