Just a note, but this was the key thing that I learned that helped me move from being a staunch conservative to far left. That was literally the catalyst. I got tired of getting punked on facts online and decided I would make sure I was right about stuff before posting. It opened my eyes to how many of my assumptions were just wrong.

It isn't a "5%" theory, more lile a 30%+ theory.

emergency decisions by SCOTUS are routinely issued without opinions, and that has been the case since forever afaik.
that's because they have to make many such decisions in a short span of time I suppose and so can't go deeply into the details of each and every one of them.
on the other hand the district judge which blocks the federal government nationwide is guaranteed that that is the most important case by far above all others he is handling at that specific time (and often in years) and so should dedicate the better part of his working hours to it unlike SCOTUS which routinely has to determine things with wide nationwide effects.
btw my criticism was at the lack of any possible justification much more than at the lack of a specific bullshit presented to justify that indefensible specific TRO.
