President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

lol why do you guys keep engaging with at Lucion guy?

It's amusing? Not like we're actually doing anything important here.

Coincidence?

fair enough and true

It took me way to long to learn this, I admit. I think it was the day that he told me that every leftist should be killed that did it for me.

Genocidal Lucy.

Ignore trolls and idiots. Simple.

His views are horrifying, but he isn't a troll. He really believes that stuff.

Sincerely believing is not an iron clad defense against trolling. Like when he was spouting nonsense about how the Minnesota assassin must be a liberal, he probably believed it but it was so dumb it was as still trolling.

I definitely agree Lucy isn’t a troll, he’s just an absolute POS

He strategically amps up the rhetoric to occasionally troll

Yeah that's it. He really does want laws allowing the extermination of all political opponents and immigrant criminals but also enjoys finding novel ways of expressing it to troll everyone.

He thinks he's clever enough to convince people that they agree with him. Might work on his real-life friends (acquaintances?), but not so much here.

https://www.reuters.com/legal/litigation...

Reuters spoke to four former lawyers in the unit and three other people familiar with the departures who said some staffers had grown demoralized and exhausted defending an onslaught of lawsuits against Trump's administration.

"Many of these people came to work at Federal Programs to defend aspects of our constitutional system," said one lawyer who left the unit during Trump's second term. "How could they participate in the project of tearing it down?"

Just replace them with MAGA influencers.

I can totally imagine him as the little duce of his local bar, and when he tries the same tricks here, he gets completely rammed.

So, goodbye Department of Education I guess.

Way too crazy to let Ds use it to forgive debt, but alright to let Rs bike it entirely.

I am actually in favor of bloody code stile laws, like the UK centuries ago, that would apply to citizens as well. Death penalty for all serious violent crimes, simple as that. And scheduled *the day after the appeal*.

I just want lower thresholds for immigrants if possible under the constitution (it depends on the country).

You are libeling me about political opponents that don't commit crimes though

Another rubber stamp from the Supreme Court for our dictator in chief.

Shocking lack of coverage on this. Guess the fatigue is setting in

Shocking lack of coverage on this. Guess the fatigue is setting in

Judges simply do not have the power to stop restructuring of an agency because they think the way it is being done will make the agency incapable of fulfilling it's mandate.

That's 100%, exclusively the prerogative of the executive, no other power of the state has a say on how an agency should conduct it's business in organizing terms. At all. In the slightest.

You guys keep conflating effects of Trump decisions you dislike with what the actual powers of the executive, courts, and congress are in various matters.

I understand you would want a different DoE. That's normal politics, a person you disagree with gets elected, and he will do stuff within his powers that you dislike.

Within the power of the executive lays the power to wither and make a mockery of an agency if so he pleases to do. Like Biden did with border control. Unfortunately that's legal.

And Trump can fully legally kill the DoE from within making it a shadow of it's former self even if it's debatable if he can outright cancel the whole department or not (that might be something only congress can do).

The judge decision to stay the order and restore the fired employees was predicated, literally, in his decision, on the idea that allowing that would make the DoE unable to fulfill it's legal obligations. Sorry but not sorry, that's not up to a judge to discuss.

So SCOTUS correctly put the order on hold.

Anyway the coverage was significant, i got like 6 pings about that (all celebratory ofc, give what my side thinks of the DoE, an aberration which is absolutely unconstitutional and should never have existed, the federal government should be barred to have any role in education, which is a strictly state and county matter).

I am also surprised democrat-led states want the DoE to do stuff. Everything the DoE does in their state, they can do themselves. Why do they insist of being able to have an agency that forces Missouri or Texas to do stuff about education in general? Californians can get every student loan the californian state is willing to provide them with californian taxes, and everything else they think is proper and good to do about education at the state level, with no limits other than the federal and the state constitution.

WHY, i ask again, WHY are democrats obsessed with the idea of being able to tell republican states how they should conduct their business on education? why is this even possible?

Because we don’t want Texas kids to be functionally ******ed other than being able to recite the lord’s prayer. lmao

I want to think that, as more and more people lose something the government provided, that support erodes. But, then again, cults will literally drink poisoned kool-aid.

Yeah, like, thou shalt not lie, unless you're the president. Or, thou shalt not commit adultery, ........

The officers are doing their job. This country is simply not used to laws being enforced.

If someone is not in the process of committing a violent crime, it's very possible to take that person into custody without using any violence at all, by calmly stating who you are and why the person needs to come with you. I don't think they're trying that at all. They seem to be just tackling people and treating them very roughly for no particular reason.

Ethics schmethics..

Attorney General Pam Bondi has fired one of the top career officials tasked with advising her and other senior Justice Department officials of their ethical obligations, an official familiar with the dismissal confirmed to ABC News Monday.
