Is it normal to get 14 MPG on a car that advertises 26/32 mpg city/freeway?

I have my AC cranked and I rarely, so very rarely, ever drive on the freeway. My car is advertised to get 26 miles per gallon but it's only giving me about 14. It's a few decades old but well maintained. I don't want to get super specific so people don't identify me on the roads.

Is this MPG normal in the summer?

When was the last time you got the car tuned up or checked out by a mechanic for ay reason?

Have you had it since it was new? If not, you don't really know how it was maintained, but if so, what kind of mileage did it get in the past?

I believe cars generally get fewer miles to the gallon as they age (mine have anyway), but this seems extreme.

Once a year and whenever it broke down.

Purchased it in 2001 at 74,000 miles. It's around 180,000 now. Never calculated the mileage back then.

I'm surprised you never calculated until recently. Have you looked up what mileage it was supposed to get when new?

26 city, 32 freeway.

26 city, 32 freeway.

City miles can vary so much though depending on traffic. If your schedule has you regularly driving in rush hour traffic, your mileage can go very low. When you're not moving but the car is running it's 0.

Filled up 7.5 gallons after 96 miles.

That's really bad. I would definitely have it checked out.
