I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Yep...

"We're not going to have -- if a communist gets elected to run New York, it can never be the same. But we have tremendous power at the White House to run places when we have to," Trump said.

Trump didn't elaborate on what authority that would be as he then turned his focus to the nation's capital.

"We could run D.C. We're looking at D.C. We don't want crime in D.C. We want the city to run well," he said. He said his chief of staff, Susie Wiles, was working with Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Oh, no, I definitely did vote for Trump in Nov 2016 as a member of the "This should be fun at least. What could go wrong?" cohort. I cast my 2016 primary ballot for Bernie, though. The regret set in a couple weeks after inauguration when it was clear that they weren't going to take his Twitter account away and the man wouldn't shut the **** up and just go be President. Well, how many tariffs are actually implemented right now? Any?

Can't have inflation from tariffs if you don't have tariffs

Lesson - Don't be brown

Attorneys with clients at Alligator Alcatraz, built in the Florida Everglades, criticize the lack of due process and access to counsel, and express concerns about the conditions. The Miami Herald described detainees suffering from mosquito bites, days without showers and “scant sunlight coming through the heavy-duty tents, making it difficult for them to know whether it is day or night.”

She asked why CBP was alerted. “I was advised that the client looked Hispanic, had a Hispanic name, and now they are collaborating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and CBP, and their orders are to call CBP any time they encounter anyone they suspect is an immigrant,” said Cuprys. “I asked if they would have followed the same process if it had been me driving, and the response was it depends if you look Hispanic.”

“My client has been detained for two weeks now, and I understand he doesn’t have status, but he’s not a criminal,” said Cuprys. “And he applied for status before he was detained. He had a valid driver’s license, and no one can tell me who has jurisdiction over him. My concern is that they’re just going to ship him out and he’s never going to have a court hearing.” Her client is married and has lived in the United States for approximately two decades.

“I can probably give you at least a dozen more cases like that with the same scenario. They’re just looking for those vehicles. In Key West, there are a lot of Nicaraguan nationals who have asylum cases pending, with valid work authorizations, valid driver’s licenses, who are lawfully employed.” One client was arrested while pumping gas. An ICE officer arrested him even though he had valid work authorization documents.

And don't have an extensive criminal record.

Hah was just clarifying what thread was saying.

Boat said don't be brown
Dig said AND don't have a criminal record

Boat then said 'like our president?'

Which didn't follow, since requirement laid out in the conversation was brown AND criminal.

are you serious? we had this discussion already, you admitted there were significant tariffs implemented since jan 20 anyway (even if he removed some of those he had put in), there is a court case about the tariffs ongong (plaintiffs claim the use of IEEPA to introduce the 10% worldwide is against what that law allows, first round won by them, now being appealed), and you go back to claim there are no tariffs?

/

Anyway

A 10% tariff applies to just about everything the U.S. imports
Starting in April, Trump imposed a minimum 10% tariff on nearly everything the U.S. imports (with a few exceptions such as cellphones and computers), although goods from China face a higher tariff rate of 30%.

The average tariff rate is now at the highest it has been since the 1930s. The government collected nearly $30 billion in tariff revenue during June, according to a daily tracker at the Bipartisan Policy Center. That's roughly three times what it collected in March, before the worldwide tariffs were announced.

/

The 10% on everything, and then the +20% China tariffs , and the +25% Mexico/Canada tariffs (for non-USMCA covered items) HAVE BEEN IN EFFECT FOR MONTHS.

you were never worth my time and never will be.

I understand it in real life, same as why I completely cut off radical leftists, DEI, woke types.

I hope the people you are cutting out of your lives aren't people you were close to. That is incredible sad if they were.

I just heard a friend of mine is talking to her parents (who she is insanely close to) because they disagree on politics. I now think less of all three of them.

Tariffs are terrible, but they do not cause inflation.

That isn't how the discussion went

The Chinese tariff was delayed until August 12 (again)

That's an ADDITIONAL 34% over the 10 + 20 which is *in effect*

You can check the tariffs per country (including previous ones, suspended ones and so on) here

At this point, the blame lies squarely on the shoulder of the maga-morons. There's no excuse for continuing to support this administration. None. It is indeed incredibly sad, but for that reason, not the one you are implying.

10% in effect. The 20% fell off in May

Pretty sure we've had 10%+ on china for last 30 years

https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

Inflation is falling in the same way that it has been falling since it hit a peak in 2022.

That doesn't mean prices are going down. They are still going up (except for energy), so just like when Biden got inflation to fall, consumers might not feel the inflation dropping.

I don't know how else to tell you that there is an *additional 30% on Chinese goods introduced by trump and in effect right now for imports to the USA from China*.

The tariff tracker you posted yourself directly opposes what you claim
