yes he's up about 200k and at this point the plus is locked in

Somehow there’s still a $50k NL and a $25k HORSE on the schedule, so I suppose if he enters both of these multiple times he could theoretically still end up in the red.

both are cap at one re-entry

Have a funny feeling we haven’t heard the last of Mr. Negreanu in terms of deep runs this summer

I am having a hard time believing this story. What was the name of the league you played in that had a height requirement? Any streetballer even thinking they can make the NBA at 5ft 10 are bums who are delusional. I walked on to the Monterey Peninsula College basketball team out of high school. I am 6ft 4 inches 210 pounds and I never thought I was going to make the NBA.

It was imaginitatively called – wait for it – the 5-10 & Under League.

The two guys I heard talking about this were even shorter than that: one was a 5-6 Indian guy, the other was probably closer to 5-8 and East Asian of some sort (Chinese, Korean, Japanese). They literally thought that had more skill than most NBA players, but their height kept them from ever playing on that stage.

And yes, they were delusional. No one is suggesting otherwise. That's what makes the story humorous.

That's definitely a possibility, but hard to predict.

of course they were delusional. and you're way more likely to have some 5'6 guy swearing he could make the nba if he was taller rather than a 6'4 guy. The short guy has the excuse to delude himself with.

He is 13th on WSOP player of the year. Of course he plays a lot of tournaments, and mostly smaller field one where he has a good chance to make the final table. Shaun Deeb is in 1st in POY and has a big lead 3-handed in a $1000 tournament, so should take a big lead in Player of the Year.

Anyone remember the 2+2 PokerCast where they interview Deeb after his very first live tournament win? IIRC, it was somewhere in central Europe and has -three- entrants. Doesn’t feel that long ago, and now he’s going to have more bracelets than Negreanu.

No Im jealous because hes sunrunning for life. Im also jealous of the nerd regs who are similarlly sunrunning through life. Live tournament poker success is all about being that top 5% of variance out of all poker players in the world.

DNegs life sunrun level is top 0.0001%

In any person's success story, there's usually an element of talent, an element of effort, and an element of luck/opportunity. The people who become immensely successful (and whatever you think of Negreanu, you cannot claim he's not of the most successful poker players ever) usually combine success in all of those three elements.

You can sit and bitterly type on your keyboard that "well if I had that sunrun, I'd have Negreanus life" and all it tells me is that even if the opportunity came to you, you'd blow it.

Yeah, and it is all in 11 years. Plus only two of them in mixed games. Schulman and Seiver have them mostly in smaller field mixed games tournaments.

this is fair. he's definitely sun run especially early on when it really matters, but unlike a lot of idiots who sun run (cough Matusow cough) he ran with the opportunity.

Really, because...

Streetball along with poker is all talk and no substance.

...that was the entire point of the post.

I never said that. I said that its pathetic that someone whos having the sunrun of all time, has 0 humility about the fact. Wishing to have Negreanu's life is pointless, its the same as wishing you win the Powerball.. A waste of time.

My problem with Negreanu is that he unironically seems to believe that his success is purely down to skill, and that not only does he thinks he has not been particularly lucky, but that variance has been a hindrance to him. He literally makes claims such as "if I hadnt been so unlucky, I would have had 20 bracelets". Its just baffling from someone whos played poker professionally for 25+ years to be so deluded about variance. In terms of how important luck has been in his life hes more akin to a powerball winner than the NBA/NHL athlete that he wants to compare himself to.

Lol so you are angry that he won’t “check his privilege” as a sunrunner.

While it takes a long long time to be in the long run especially in tournaments, with over 56M in earnings and maybe say 43M in buyins (?) over 20 years it’s somewhat safe to say he’s demonstrated the skill.

Did Shaun Deeb ever apologize to Dneg's wife for his marriage comments on twitter like 5/6 years ago?

You mean where they both went back and forth on the terms of a bet regarding whose marriage would last longer? I think dnegs eventually apologized for suggesting Shaun was 2 years away from his first heart attack and they moved on. Rumor has it Amanda still hasnt recovered from the horrors of it all.

nah, honestly it's why I don't like Deeb. He should apologize.

The last vlog where he is doing some tik tok trend is a very hard watch

Did Dnegs every apologize for the vlog where he giggles like a little schoolgirl while he keeps panning his camera to show Shauns fat belly to shame him?

I'm obviously pro Negreanu and I can empathize with "well he's gotta put out something every day" but I definitely skipped a large part of this and didn't really see why it would be considered that funny.

Did watch the 25k fantasy breakdown and thought it was odd. Feels to me like the best Strat in that is no super expensive players, just get a bunch of $25 guys and hope 3-4 of them hit. Even for Negreanu, spending $108 for the points he's scored isn't clear that he was "doing his job" vs matusow scoring 65 points for $3 which "could be better"

in a half hour vlog of his i'll watch 10-15 minutes. i just skip all of the at home stuff, drive in etc and watch the poker. I've tried watching a few in full and I really don't need to hear about /from his gold digging uninteresting wife who sleeps 22 hours a day, Dnegs trying to rap/do comedy/imitations. The poker stuff is usually good though.

I was the one who said he hasn't been a pro in 15 years. And he hasn't. Believe me that's not an insult. He's crushing life. Any pro would swap places with him in a second to get paid millions a year to endorse a poker site.He likes the accolades and marketing that coming with winning a bracelet. He'd happily lose money at every wsop for the rest of his life if he could also wi

Has millions of dollars (and the nice home/things this affords)

(2)
In the Poker HOF (regarded by most Players over 30 y/o as having a great record)

(3)
Able to make any Amateur or Spectator instantly comfortable and appreciative seeing him at their table or passing him on the rail

Enjoys his life and the Poker games he plays

Regular income and cash flow from his YouTube Channel and other Media as a result of said image

Married to Amanda

If someone's reasons to do anything they put serious effort into are something else, I don't why you'd do it.

More money than you can spend in a comfortable and safe residence where you live with an amazing (and beautiful) partner who loves you...?

Even if you're into dudes rather than women or if your preferences are different than Amanda, just insert whomever you could have mutual love with into that scenario and that's literally the dream.

You think you'd take time away from the beautiful life you've built to go play cash games with scammers and Degens or sit for 10 hours a day for 7 days straight to "prove" you can also run over tourney players even though you'd have made more money per hour sitting at home and vlogging and working on businesses?
Lol c'mon

Some of y'all seem to suggest you'd keep hitting on 21 in life and that's so weird to me tbh 😆

I was gonna say that he should have his team segment out the poker only stuff for a separate channel or platform for those who only want to see that.

But then you made it weird with everything else you said. Lol

why are you putting words in my mouth? I've literally said he's crushing life in this thread.

I commented on which parts of his vlog I think are worth watching and which parts aren't.
