President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
No, it will probably be multiple forms of ID
Literally every single state requires an ID to vote. It just depends where in the process
To be honest, the whole votergate thing is incredibly ******ed and only the bottom of the barrel in IQ believe that ****. I'm saying that to imply that you shouldn't believe it but you are certainly free to do you
you just agreed with me that the onerous voting laws will be to show *multiple* ID to vote.
imagine the difficulties of that.
In an ordinary situation the result of this is republicans have their asses absolutely handed to them in the midterms but I fully expect the next order of business to be to cover their asses putting their thumb on the scale by ramming through some onerous federal voter ID law or removal of mail in ballots just in timeI also expect gestapo ICE to be deployed at as many vulnerabl
Ice will soon concentrate on anyone that opposes trump. It's coming.

Getting a drivers license or state id already requires multiple forms of identification.
You really just can’t wrap your head around the real issue. Voting should be fast. Maybe it needs to be online but that’s a security nightmare too. Verifying multiple forms of id takes time.
The system we have already works better than the proposed change

it takes no time. i voted in canada, rolled up and showed my drivers license and credit card with my name on it. took less than 5 seconds for the person to check that it matched my voter registration.
how much faster do you think it should be?
Ignoring, well, everything here
Getting a real ID in california requires a birth certificate, your existing ID, multiple bank statements, appointments a couple months in advance and spending a few hours of your day at the DMV
I imagine this experience is similar in every other state in the country
The idea that legislation could be passed that going through this process isn’t enough to be allowed to vote and you’ll have to go through even more steps is beyond laughable and precisely the point
Credit cards aren’t forms of id here. Think birth certificates or social security cards or utilities

yes the government is horribly run. this is a fact of governement. it's a shame that is the time and effort required to get an ID in california. perhaps provide some feedback to Newsom that it ought be improved.
beyond going through this process, what are the additional onerous steps you're suggesting?
You have to be trolling right now
We’ll see, wont we?

that's fine. bring 2 forms. not that hard.
- drivers license
- birth certificate
- social security card
- passport
- id card
- veteran card
- utilities (not sure what this means - like a utilty bill?)
not that onerous
I'm not.
I don't see the issue with people bringing ID. It's not that hard.
Yes it's a pain in the ass dealing with government BS to get various documents. However, beyond voting, it's generally helpful and required in many other instances anyways. You want to drive, probably need a driver's licence. You want to buy alcohol, probably need ID to show you're over 21. You want to travel, probably need a passport. You want to work, probably need a social security card....
When I lived in Onterrible the government lines at Service Ontario were bad. 30 mins to 3 hours I'd say. Some locations were better so if you did a little recon, you could find places with little to no wait.
BC is better. Sub 30 minute wait on average.
If it was easy to get a realid in ca you idiots would complain it’s too easy because they are trying to let illegals vote.
Let’s just be real here, the reason Republicans want voter id is because they think it would benefit them, not for security reasons.
Anyway the only for of voter id that makes sense is a voter id card that comes with your registration (and is free). Anything else is just putting a bunch of barriers on top of voting for no gain.

Yeah, we already know the point is to drive the margins. Voting turn out is already **** but has been increasing. Make it slightly more onerous to vote, take a little bit more time, require a little bit more prep, maybe shut down mail in ballots and you’ve shaved off a few effective percentage of the population that was voting and now isn’t.
It’s the same reason the BBB has added paperwork barriers to existing social programs. Just make it so a few less people are doing it. Reduce the impact of the population and focus it to sycophants

Why? To register to vote, I had to provide a government issued ID (my DL) and another form of ID that proves citizenship (my passport). To obtain my passport, I had to provide my original birth certificate (which wasn't given back to me until they mailed my passport), DL, and a foreskin sample. I was then mailed a voter card.
I only vote by mail because I'm not reetarded, but it seems like using a DL or any other government issued picture ID should suffice due to the requirements in registering to vote.
The whole belief that there are hoards of illegals going to polls in droves to vote and change elections is reetarded bullshit. Illegals are lowkey and trying to stay away from any things/events that could potentially risk them being removed from the US.
Yeah, yeah, I don't want to hear about some outlier - of course they exist, but not in numbers big enough to sway elections.

Personally i am on record saying north carolina passing free easy to get IDs togheter with ID mandates to vote is the way to go.

Coordi political analysts of both parties + neutral ones are all in agreement increased turnout these days (at least when Trump is on the ballot) *modestly helps republicans*. The game has changed.

1. I'm a Republican.
2. The bolded is absolutely true.

I distill it down to say a ~1k person rural town. Many issues/local etc still come down to razor thin ~50/~50 margins even in red areas. So just gaining those few votes based on who's most likely to lose them/not replace them quickly etc can potentially help make a difference.
