The funny part would have been Okamoto if folded the baby flush, thinking she was up against a higher one a la Jamie Gold vs. Doyle Brunson.
I've told this story before but I once almost got bluffed off a hand AFTER I had called the river. The details are cloudy now, but I flopped a flush with a T9 or JT kind of hand. Bet the flop, and had one caller remain in the hand. She check-called turn but the river brought a fourth club. Something like Q♣8♣4♣7♥2♣.
The woman calling down led the river. I made a crying call, and she quickly turned her cards over – in the manner one would do when they definitely bet the best hand. Pretty sure I let out some obscenity until I saw her cards: a 42. Yep, she flopped bottom pair, chased down a second pair, then confidently bet the river for value.
Okamoto's opponent almost certainly did the same thing a lot of amateurs do: play the absolute value of her hand without consideration for what she's up against. Still pretty funny, though!
What is Ike doing?

Congrats to Martin on his 4th Bracelet. I dislike his antics, but I have to say he is a strong player who shouldn't be underestimated.

I was being a bit pedantic but there is no long run in tournaments with prize pools this large.
Just because you don't get a huge sample size doesn't change what has the most EV. It's the same as a Super Bowl, teams only get so many chances at that (if any) but it doesn't mean the EV of going on 4th or going for 2 changes somehow.
Now, obviously, ICM and other factors impact what actually is the most +EV. And also it may be worth reducing variance hugely with a small tradeoff of EV (for example, I would take a $950,000 payout right now rather than flipping a coin for $2M, even though the flip is more +EV).

As for "pausing the hand," are you talking about having the dealer hold off on dealing out the board so they can take a photo with it? That's crazy. At that point, you should have the right to get behind the camera and, um, hang some brain in the background.

I don't think that means they will be in there on day 1 though.
