Daniel Negreanu's very own containment thread. All things Danny go here
how bad must he be when a girl falls asleep while making out and snores right after?

Poker News could have the hand they say he misread wrong. Odd his vlog doesn't address that and say they were wrong, but just presents the hand totally differently. Would have more credibility if DN said the hand was misreported.
Yeah, who knows. The report says Baker was there to watch the hand. On the vlog, it clearly had just happened, as Daniel tells the audience how it played out as he walks away from the table.
Assuming Baker's chip counting is correct, then the PN hand history makes more sense in one area: Negreanu can't jam the turn (as reported in the vlog), as he had t7100 with a pot of t3600. It had to be two streets to get his stack in.
In the end, my guess is Daniel didn't really think much of the hand overall, and maybe the "I would have checked" was just joking with the amateur. So by the time he's walking away and recording the bust-out for the vlog, he's already misremembering some of the details because the hand is already one of the thousands and thousands of bustout hands he's experienced in 30 years playing poker.
No he said he bet the turn and then yada yada yada he made kings and tens and that was it. Didn’t come off as some conspiracy between him and editor.
Please point to the part where I even implied that there was some sort of conspiracy between Daniel and his editor. I'll wait. Hell, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the editor has no idea PokerNews reported the hand differently. He's just talking a mountain of video clips from Daniel, loading it into a Premiere project, then churning out 20-25 minutes of content for a next-day release.
No, I simply pointed out that his breakdown of the hand as he walked away from the table (shown in the vlog) did not match the PokerNews hand report. Hence the word "dafuq," which an intentional misspelling of a two-word English colloquialism that denotes confusion.
No need to save face about anything regarding less than a pot sized river with a tiny stack regardless if he misread or not
Agree with this. In fact, it's closer to half a pot bet on the end. Negreanu raised to 1800 pre and bet 2500 on the turn, so there's t8600 in the pot by the river. This also means Daniel has almost half his stack in there by the time he jams river.
But then why the "I thought I had king-ten. I would have checked" comment that reporter Tim Baker wrote down? I agree there's no need to save face, yet he reportedly DID say something to save face. Again, dafuq.
100%. I enjoy poking fun at Negreanu as much as I do pulling for him. But when it comes to his self-assessment of his PLO game, I give it a pass for precisely this reason.

you were questioning what happened but from PokerNews reporting which included a direct quote it seemed obvious. He did misread his hand but in video walking out he probably didn’t think it was important to mention and didn’t know he was supposed to especially embarrassed about his misreading his hand
Note that the very next reply to yours and I’m paraphrasing “yeah man, him and editor were misleading but I’m sure they are otherwise honest!”
So ask him to point to the spot in your post too. I’ll be waiting for that.
WSOP Event #79: $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller
Only chance Daniel has of going into the red for this wsop series.
Welp Daniel has busted out of his first bullet in the
WSOP Event #79: $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller.
Hopefully he fires another bullet at it tomorrow.
Why does he keep teasing his thoughts on the Milly Maker situation? Let me address this situation, well no I better not. Well, I'll just say this real quick... No better not. Later. Well actually I can say this, I have to say this... No, no I'll talk about it later
Next vlog he does the same thing
I assume he thinks it's disrespectful to "the game"

Oh my! Daniel must of re-entered last night and ran it up pretty good on his 2nd bullet.
Pokernews has him with a top 5 stack at the end of the night.
Attaboy Daniel !

I sorted on busted in updates and didn’t see him. Where did you get info he busted?
Looks like he just entered late after 2500 final table and spun.
iwasbanned needs for him to have re-entered in order to be in the red, but by all accounts he's only fired one bullet
So after busting out 4th, he right away entered the 100k plo and has 5x his dtarting stsvk,is in 3rd of 36,88 entries so far.
Now people here are hoping he winds up in the red,and is therefore a losing player with an endorsement hustle.
Not a pro lol. Haters going to have to be quiet for a day or two
You can't be a pro playing only tournaments. So, yeah, he's not a POKER pro. Now, you can hit the lottery and have a lifetime win.

Well he tweeted that today's vlog would have his thoughts - sounds like he's going to throw WPT under the bus.
its written in the stars that the plo donk sunrunner dnegs will win the 100k. no justice in poker.

So if he wins the $100K PLO, he is a PLO donk sunrunner. He has a decent shot to at least make his 6th final table of the WSOP in it. I guess he sunran in the other PLO tournaments of mostly pros which he won.
No matter what he does, people will dump on him. They are jealous because he has personality, unlike all the nerd regs.

he's having a good series. But he's probably made tens of millions in endorsements in the last decade. By his own math coming into this series he had made about 600k in poker during that time. You wanna make an update every event as though that changes things. You seriously sound like a 1/2 nl donk. If he had to grind poker full time I'm sure he'd be up more than 600k because he'd take things more seriously and not play high rollers he's a dog in. But he doesn't have to grind it full time which is a great position to be in. Somehow you act like it's an insult to state the facts. Of course people are jealous of him. I'd love to swap bank accounts with him as would basically any poker player.

Last year the facts only included the past nine years and not the full decade. We’ve noticed that people always have to exclude the 8M cash from the facts lol
And facts should always consider that without that 8M boost in bankroll he might not have been firing all of the SHRs.
As far as db chiming in whenever he wins we do have people chiming in whenever he loses as though that changes things. So relax and just enjoy the cheerleading from both sides
Overlimp on button with QT96 is totally standard, although you could fold. Discussed previously and people showed simulations.
Yeah, it was discussed previously, I led the discussion, and the conclusion was not what you're saying here. You are just outright lying.
Absolutely zero of the sims presented were accurate to the situation. If you don't think it matters (or if you don't think it's true), you're telling on yourself extremely badly.
Moving on to something I'm sure you will be similarly unreasonable about because "omg he was a favorite vs actual combo":
I am extremely skeptical of Daniel's flop raise to bust the $2500 Big Bet Mix. Too much equity, too little showdown value, and too few blockers. You want to be blocking villain's continues if you want them to fold, and if you don't want them to fold you need more SDV or even more equity. As-is, you're risking your real-but-precarious equity by re-opening the action and playing a bigger pot than the situation calls for. (This arguably becomes self-evident when Daniel finds himself in one of the better situations he could vs range and his equity edge is only 60/40 then 53/47 or whatever it was. Both are flipping a coin at a final table. I'm not 100% clear on stack sizes so I won't make an ICM argument, especially because it's not my expertise in the first place.)
This hand exemplifies the #1 leak I see in his PLO postflop game, IIRC: his bets and raises are too weak, in terms of range construction. And--off the top of my head--I'm pretty sure I can think of a case of another player at his table adjusting appropriately this year, but I won't say more without being more confident on the details.
Also... J874 triple suit (especially when you're chasing the J-hi flush later, lol) is... I'm not going to come to a thumbs-up/thumbs-down conclusion about the preflop call (and obviously we're going to defend wide in the BB), especially because I don't have any access to any of my (however imperfect) sims at the moment. But I'll say that three of a suit and a wheel card tend to be red flags, so I've got skeptical feelings.
And--if any of the play above is even remotely questionable--Negreanu's Hellmuth-like hubris (both canonically think they'd be unstoppable if luck weren't a factor) continues to be damning. He was not open at all to the idea that he could have played better, either the tournament in general or the hand he busted specifically. He can't see past getting all-in as a miniscule favorite. Again, it's extremely unflattering to him when I really believe he's capable of more sophisticated thinking.
Also: he super told on himself when he basically said "I can just play whatever I want outside of high rollers". No, Dan, you have to have more respect for the cards in this game.
I am not cheerleading. It is just that people are making completely false and misleading statements. You twist things by picking out statistics. He is not a pro because he doesn't play tournaments, etc.
He cashed for $8M in 2014. He won the PPC, one of the toughest tournaments there is, last year. He just set the record for the most PGT wins. He is making a run at the record for the most WSOP final tables.
Sure, his marketability is not because he is anywhere near the best poker player now. However, to twist things around and claim he is a losing player with a hustle of an endorsement contract is complete BS. He is obviously a very good tournament player.
As for the bustout hand in the $2.5K big bet mix, you are saying that his hand selection was bad! Would you fold in the BB when the SB completed with ante??? This is a really new theory of poker that you should fold in the BB in a limped pot!
He raised pot with a wrap, got called and was 60%. Then he had to call on the turn with pot odds, particularly making a flush draw. Now he definitely could have just flat called the flop with his wrap. He also may have been playing for a win more than other people would be in that situation.
Here is the bustout hand. I couldn't access my image trimming software.

I think the hand description on Poker News of the J874 hand is wrong. It looks from the video like Kupin raised the SB and Daniel called in the BB. Still seems like a perfectly standard defense in a BvB situation.

No Im jealous because hes sunrunning for life. Im also jealous of the nerd regs who are similarlly sunrunning through life. Live tournament poker success is all about being that top 5% of variance out of all poker players in the world.
DNegs life sunrun level is top 0.0001%
I would think he had at least one free entry in every single event at the WSOP with his sponsorship.
Rebuys I doubt it but GG is filthy rich so who knows.
Why would he ever stop playing everything if he is freerolling?
Now if someone has accurate info that he doesn't get free entry, feel free to post.
Regarding the 2500 bustout, DNegs actually played the hand much better than Kupin. On the turn what the hell is Kupin beating when he front jams? Not even Negreanu's actual hand which is about the worst he can have.
Lol @ him saying he should have had 15-20 bracelets if wasnt running bad. He literally won the PPC in large part because he hit a 1 outer to scoop a massive decisive pot. His delusion and lack of humility regarding which side of variance his entire career falls on is nauseating.
I am going to write a book pn hand selection in the bb on limped pots. Some people might flat on the flop eith a wrap, but potting it probably gets a lot of folds. Other guy picked up a flush draw on the turn, although it wasnt good, the straght draws sppested to brick out was sort of pot committed with less tjan a psb left.
